A resolution was passed .by council that
thetownship not oppose the closing of the
existing Ball's Bridge, upon condition that a
bridge of MTC standards is constructed
across the Maitland River within 2.0 km of
the existing site prior to the closing of the
existing bridge.
Council then adjourned until February 6
at 1 p.m.

"Local Area Representatives are being
sought for ASSE, a non-profit high school ex-
change program," announced Cindy Boyce,
Director of ASSE. "Area Representatives
are needed to recruit/screen host families -
and Canadian high school students to study
in Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland,
West Germany, Switzerland, and Great Bri-
• "ASSE has over 300:Area Representatives
in North America," continued Boyce,:"who
consider working with' outstanding ASSE
Canadian and European young adults a.
rewarding and enriching experience. Area
Representatives establish lasting friend-

riend' ships in ',their community, throughout
Canada, and in Europe. Area Represen-
tatives' are reimbursed for their expenses,
and have the opportunity to travel
overseas."
ASSE is affiliated with the .Swedish and
Finnish Ministries of Education and has
organized over 150,000 student exchanges in
North America and Europe.
The ASSE exchange program enables
qualified students to live with Canadian or
European host families while attending
local schools in order to learn from cultures
other than their own.

Two vehicles
damaged in
Vanastra crash
VANASTRA - An accident south of the
Vanastra road last week caused $10,300
damage to the two vehicles.
The Goderich OPP reported that on Jan.
25, Raymond Finch, 61, of RR 1 Clinton was
southbound on Highway- 4 when his 1980
GMC truck was struck from behind by a
tractor-trailor driven by John Loewen, 18, of
RR 4 Aylmer.
Mr. Finch received minor injuries in the
accident.
OPP estimated damage at $10,000 to the
tractor-trailor and $300 to Finch's truck.
The Clinton Police reported that a tractor
trailer owned by McNichol Trucking of
Seaforth was damaged when it jack-knifed
on Clinton's main street on Jan. 26.
The truck and empty tractor trailer,
driven by Ross. Wilson, 33, p£,Blyth, oras
travelling west alongOntario Street and was
unable to stop for a car making a left hand
turn. The truck jack-knifed in the middle of
the street and the fuel tank at the rear of the
cab was dented. Damage amounted to
$1,000.
Clinton Police Chief Lloyd Westlake
reported that he,ahnost made it to work on
Jan. 19, but not before he was involved in a
car crash at the corner of Victoria and
Railway Streets, across the road from the
police station.
Chief Westlake's car received $3,500 in
damages and a second' car driven by Jeffrey
Cantelon, 22, of Clinton, received $3,000 in
damages after the two collided at the in-
tersection.
On Jan. 20 a two car fender bender
resulted in $850 in damages to cars driven by
Mia Roorda, 22, of Clinton and Jean Jacob,
71, of Clinton.
The two collided at the corner of King and
Cutter Streets and damage to the Roorda
car w'as set at $250 and $800 to the Jacob car.
Lorraine Moaain found that it's not even
safe to leave.a parked car, folloa►iiiig a Jan.
21 accident. The Moulin ear was parked on
Rattenbury Street E. when an Unidentified
vehicle crashed into it. Damage to the
Moxam car was set at $1,000. •
