The eXeChthreHeehiMittee of the Goderich
Township 140 reports that work is
proceeding well on their history book and
colaie# will be available for sale by
DeceMber 1984. Copies may be purchased in
advance (by PeceMber 1, 1984) for $20
through the executive committee and will
sell for. PO after that date. Postage is extra,
if applicable! •
A PatrOn's List is planned - similar to that
found in the back of -the Belden's Atlas of
Huron • County for 1879. However, only
people who are landowners and / or
residents in Goderich Township in 1984 will
have their names included. This list must be
in the publisher's 'hands by September 1st,
so if you qualify and wish to have your name
included you must have your data along
with your purchase price by that deadline.
The list will include your name and your
spouse's (including maiden names.) along
they will not be included on the Patron's
List.
We have also decided to include, if
available, a section on families who had
settled in Goderich Township prior to 1835
and who still have descendants of the sur-
name as landowners here in 1985. Each
family write-up should document the history
of the first settler in our township - where he
came from, when and where he settled, and
some facts regarding his family and
descendants.
We will have to depend on people con-
tacting us regarding such a list rather than
vice versa, and hope that anyone connected
with such families would phone im-
mediately (Alison Lobb, 482-7167, or Phyllis
Thompson, 482-9225). We must have these
short family write-ups ready soon.
We have prepared an alphabetical list of
such surnames from our sources, but if you

Edward and Blanche Deeves are happy to
be home again after a very nice seven week
. holiday in Greenwood, Nova Scotia with Len -
and Donna Mills and new grandson Len Jr.
The weather was great, we did get rain
and on Jan. 25 the rain took what snow was
there, away. We had a good look at the An-
napolis Valley and all the apple trees and
visited the Bay of F'undy at Port George. We
al.to went up the North Mountain and looke'd
down on the Valley. We did see the new
-power plaathey-are building where the tide_ ,
will genet -Ate the power. We -dined . in; a
restaurant at Digby and watched the tide go
out.
While in Greenwood we met many people
that were stationed here in Clinton and one
person asked if the Pickett and Campbell's
store was still on the corner. Many didn't
know the radar screen was in the centre of
our town.
It sure is nice to be back in Clinton.

taken from her grandmother's scrap book.
It took everyone back to the pioneer days of
living when the wolves roamed the woods.
