the ceremony. Rev. James Bechtel of
Wesley Willis United Church was unable to
attend the dedication because he was called
to Brucefield to cover Sunday services for
hospitalized minister, Don Moffatt.
The dedication and open house marked
the completion of a five month, major
renovation project at the Clinton funeral
home.
The addition, which is more than 1,600
square feet on the main level, contains a
study room for the clergy, a funeral chapel,
a family room and washroom facilities,
designed to accommodate wheelchairs. •
Funeral Director Mike Falconer designed
the addition to reflect the architectural
character of the historic High Street home.
Old brick was used on the exterior work to
compliment the original building. Inside,
the winding open staircase has been opened
and is highlighted by an archway.
Throughout the addition, Mr. Falconer
--has--included—several special --features A

__.:.-glass-wiradows-enhance-the-cha larea. The
glass in the windows was obtained from five
different countries around the world.
The chapel is also accented by , four
cathedral' lights, hanging -from the ceiling.
The chapel will be used both as a visitation
rooms asp well as for conducting the funeral
service.
A family room is iltiiated. to the right of
the chapel. This area will be.used to accom-
modate the immediate family on the day of
the funeral. The room allows the family the'
opportunity of not having to see the casket
being closed for the service.
The main chapel offers seating for 100
people for a service. The family room pro-
vides seating for another 25 people. For
larger services, folding doors behind the
family room can be opened to provide addi-
stional seating for another 40 persons. For a
very large service, the funeral home can
now accommodate seating of between 300 to
400 people.
Another new feature of the home is that
during busy times, visitation can be held in
Other rooms while a funeral service is in
progress. Before the addition, was built, it
was necessary for the funeral home to ask
other ---families to• -postpone- visitation ---if - a
.funeral service was to be held that day.
The lower part of the new addition con
tains a large smoking and coffee lounge,
along with two new washrooms. Mr.
• Falconer explained that 'thisroom allows
family and friends a chance to meet more
informally.

created by an gentle decoratingscheme and
enhanced by such elegant feaas the
softly colored stain glass windgws and the
agnificent double front doors. Generous
space hag been allotted throughout the addi-
tion to allow an easy flow of traffic.
