up one assist each in the game for the win-

• scored the game winner ten minutes into the
game on an unassisted effort. Linda Machan

maiming in the first period, but that was all
the Bears could muster against a tough
Goderich defence.
w In further action on Thursday night a the.
8th Liners , and Auburn Falcons battled
° through a scoreless first period. However,
the 8th Liners exploded for four goals in the
second frame to post a 4-0 shutout over the
Falcons, Gordon Machan .paced the winners
with two goals and one assist while the -
league's leading scorer Arnold Pease col-
lected one goal and two assists. Ron
McNichol scored the 8th Liners' other goal
with frolic. Pease picking up a single assist. _
A pair of goals by John Keller paced the
Lakelet Hornets to a 4-0 victory over the
Clinton Warriors. Doug and Ron de Boer ad-
ded one goal each for the Hornets, while
Stephen Douglas picked up two assists in the
game with Ken and Clvin Quipp collecting
one assist each.
On Tuesday mght, the Blyth Inn Bandits.
continued_ their winning ways as_they posted
a 5-2 oveffune victory over the Clinton' War-
riors. Two minutes into the game Paul Cook
set up Murray Black 'for the Bandits first
goal, but threemintues later Gord Kaastra
tied it up for Clinton. Greg Cook restored the
Blyth Inn lead on a pass from Herb Gooier,
with 5:23 left in the first period. The War -

In a penalty filled contest between the
Goderich Oarsrnen and Lakelet Hornets in
which seventy-nine minutes in penalties
were.called, the Oarsmen upset Lakelet by a
score of 3=1 ° Mike Hawkins unassisted effort
at the 5:49 mark of the fist period gave the`
Oarsmen a 1-0 lead. Steve Abbott provided
Goderich with a 2-0 lead midway through
the second period,. Doug deBoer set up Gary
Iiesselwood on a breakaway goal for
Lakelet, to cut the Goderich lead in half.
However, less than two minutes later the
Oarsmen added an insurance goal by Gary
Abbott on a pass from Glen Webster.. •

scoreless tie in regulation time. In overtime
Ron Snyder, set up_ Kevin Warwick for the

The death occurred at ' Htargnia District
Hospital, Midland of William Arthur Scott of
443 Hannah Street, Midland. Mr. Scott died,
December 14 following a brief illness. He
was 72 years old. ,
-Born in •NorwichT.Mr Scottwas. ason' of
the -kite- William _.. -Scott° and Elizabeth
Harrison. he was a factory maixitenance
worker until his retirement five 'years ago.
He was a member of Knox Presbyterian
Church, Midland.
Left to mourn his death are his wife, Doris
Marjorie Scott, whom he married in Blyth,
Scott and William D: Scott both of Port
McNicoll, and Brian L. Scott of Guelph and
seven grandchildren. There are seven
sisters and brothers, Mrs. Wanda Wright of
London, Charles Scott of Sarnia, Albert
(Bud) Bolton of Chatham, Veronica Doyle of
Edmonton IVIariou Eady of-London;Gordon:
Eady'of Tiverton, and Norman Eady of Ot-
tawa. He was predeceased by one son, Eric,
a sister Kathleen, and a brother Edward.
Funeral service was conducted Dec. 12 at
the Nicholls Funeral Home, Midland, by Dr.
Paul Brown. Spring interment will follow in
Brandon Cemetery, Belgrave:
