buyers. A seller can set his price where he
pleases. Nothing happens until a buyer
makes an offer. Various studies by the
Lands Directorate of Environment
Canada have substantiated the major
impact of part-time and hobby fanning on
land values.
Let's be clear that we do support an
increase in the loss write-off limit to
$10,000. We support a substantial use by all
farmers of this tax benefit. We did not
choose this as an an arbitrary figure. This
should be fair to all beginning farmers. A
young farm family working for $10 per
hour could expect to have $10,000 worth of
taxable income in a year.
Our most recent provincial board
meeting also concluded that we would
support a change in Section 31 for those
farmers who use accrual accounting.
Dropping of the limit for them is ac-
ceptable to us.
In summary, let's not forget that the
policy is a subsidy from public monies to
those losing money in agriculture. Let's be
honest and admit that farm tax policies
already provide major benefits not
available to non-farm entrepreneurs.
In recent years CFFO has adopted a
number of resolutions calling for a
targetted use of public funds. The use of
public funds to support those with taxable
incomes of more than $10,000, in our view,
should be limited. There are others who
need it more.

The thermometer for the Clinton arena
floor canvass warmed up a bit more this
week, as receipts climbed to $22,595.
Last Sunday afternoon many former
members and friends returned to
Holmesville for the first in a number of the

The GTR is making repairs about the
local station such as would not indicate
that the company intends building a new
station at an early date. They are also
sinking a well which may or may not be ac-
cepted as evidence that when a new station
is erected it will be upon the present site.
By the way the curbing is of cement in a
proportion of about four to one.
The Conservatives have opened a com-
mittee room in the Elliot Block while the
Liberals will congregate in the vacant
store next to A. Jiggs'.
Deliveries of apples at the evaporator

Mr. D. McDonald's horse ran away from
here on Monday. He speeded for about two
miles regardless of appearances or con-
sequences. Sometimes the buggy the
animal was attached to was right side up
and sometimes it wasn't. Mr. McDonald
collected the scattered fragments of the
buggy, which were strewed along the road
for two miles, and brought them to Clinton.
Getting them together was not quite as dif-
ficult a matter as for a cooper to build a
barrel around a bung hole brought him.
Die damage is about $25.
There was a good deal of "coon hunting"
done in this vicinity this fall. The more
corn disappeared the more corn appeared,
and a greater demand for fine boots than
the booty warranted. The later some were
out "cooning" the less game they brought
home. Cooning covers a multitude of sins -
