Mr. and Mrs. Robert Keyes of Grand Bend visited last week with Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Cudmore and Mr. and Mrs. Harold Parker. Mr. Don Avery of Deer- field Beach, Florida visited last week with Mrs. Evelyn Flynn and Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Flynn and Lori and Susan. Mr. and Mrs. Sim Roobol received six telephone calls from Holland congratulating them on their 50th wedding anniversary. Sgt. Doug Wein RCMP, Mrs. Wein and David of Ot- tawa are holidaying this week with their parents Mrs. Margaret Wein, Exeter and Mr. and Mrs. Harold Parker, Hensall. Mrs. Bertha MacGregor visited last week with her son and daughter-in-law Mr. and Mrs. Don MacLaren, Jodi and Brooke in Oakville. Mrs. Wm. H. Bell underwent surgery in University Hospital, London last week. Rev. Kenneth Knight con- ducted worship service in Carmel Presbyterian church on Friday. Mr. Doug Klopp if Zurich presided at the trgan for the service of song. The Amber Rebekah Lfdge is sponsoring a Bake Sate on Thursday August 18 at 1:30 p.m. in participation wit' the Bonanza Sidewalk Days at the Hensall street opening this week. Members are asked to have their dona- tionsof baking in ready to be marled by 1 p.m. Thursday. Open House and Corner Stone Laying Open house at the Hensall Senior Citizens Home at the corner. c Queen and Albert Street was held on August 14. MPP Jack Riddell used an antique silver trowel for the corner stone laying which was attended by many in- terested persons from Zurich, Dashwood, Exeter, Goderich, Seaforth, Clinton and other areas. An apartment was on display which was fully fur- nished by Whitings Warehouse, Exeter. Refreshments were served and interested persons atten- ding were pleased with the space and furnishings of the display. The building as a whole will be an asset to the village and it will prove to be a comfortable home for many to enjoy. The bricking is well under way and the landscaping will present one of the finest homes to be seen M many areas. Peter Snell, guest speaker The Hensall United Church service on Sunday morning was conducted by Peter Snell S.S. of Exeter. Miss Sheila Riley was in charge of the junior con- gregation. Mrs. Shirley Luther and Mrs. Nan Britton sang a duet and Mrs. Luther sang a solo accompanied by Mr. Eric Luther at.the piano. Mr. Marlin Nagtegaal presided at the organ for the service. Steven Corbett and Wray Jacob greeted worhsippers at the front door. August 21, 11 a.m. service for Seni will be conducted by Rev. Charles Scott of London with Robert Gackstetter as soloist. Wright Reunion The 28th annual Wright Reunion was held at the Kirkton-Woodham Com- munity Centre on August 7. Business was conducted by the Presdient Lorne Ross. The 1984 reunion will be held at the Community Centre on August 12, 1984. The Ex- ecutive for 1984 is: presi- dent, Alex Wright; secretary, Laurabelle Reichert; sports, Helen and Brian Hardeman. Doris Jeffrey and Bob Ross conducted the contests and sports. Lorne and Ethel Ross had the largest family. The oldest person in atten- dance was Charles Baillie; the youngest Hillarey Hardeman. Alex Wright, Toronto, came the most miles to attend. Ldrne Ross polished his own shoes to come; Myrtle Baillie wore a colored slip with lace. Alex Wright had the most keys on a chain. Mary Ross had the smallest shoe while Brian 7's' home Hardeman had the largest. Contents of purse was won by Helen Hardeman. Oldest single person present was Esther Wright. Lady with most recent hair appoint- ment Laurabelle Reichert; Man with most recent hair cut Spencer Jeffrey; Nancy Ross had the most buttons on her dress. Helen Hardeman had the best guess on the bean jar. Ethel Ross won the mystery gift. Children's games: Throw- ing paper plate - Laura Hardeman; Life Saver and clothes pin team contests were played. Barbara Laing con- ducted worship service at the Queensway Nursing Home on Tuesday assisted by Philipa Steckle at the piano with Martha Weigand and Gwen Whismith assisting; with the service. Social Notes Mrs. Carl Payne who underwent surgery at Strat- ford General Hospital last week is improving. A family ga`hering was held in the Fellowship Hall of the United Church on Sunday when Open House was held for Private Jeffrey Sangster and Private Marlene Mercer whose marriage was solem- nized in July in New Brunswick. '1'he bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Eric Mercer Botwood, Newfoundland, whom they have been visiting during the past week. They enjoyed an after- noon of new and old ac- quaintances, when refreshments were served. After holidaying with the groom's parents Mr. and Mrs. Don Plunkett, Hensall and sisters, the couple will return to Gagetown, New Brunswick where they are in the Armed Forces.
