Sim and Mary Roobol
celebrated their 50th wed-
ding anniversary on Satur-
day at the Hensall United
Church.
Before their marriage
they were neighbors in their
native Oud-Beyerland,
Holland. They immigrated
to Canada with their only
daughter, Maja who was 10
years old in 1947.
Sim worked on farms until
1954 when he found employ-
ment at the Centralia air-
port. He was supervisor
when it closed and was
transferred to Clinton air
base. Nine years agohe
retired as Custodian at Hen-
sall Public School. Mrs.
Roobol worked for four dif-
ferent families. The Roobols
built their home on Queen
Street in 1965.
The Roobols found Cana-
dian informality refreshing
and they learned English
from Maja's school books
and her friends.
Their family who farm at
R.R. 1 Seaforth, are
daughter Maja, a nurse, her
husband Don Dodds, who is
as helpful as a son to them;
grandchildren Lynne, 19,
Paul, 16 and Joan, 14. They
hosted a family dinner and
reception at the Fellowship
Hall of the United Church on
Saturday.
Thirty guests from
Brampton, Bradford,
Ridgetown, Bluewater Rest
Home, Zurich, Woodstock,
Seaforth, Atwood, Goderich
and Quebec attended the din-
ner. The table was decorated
with flowers, candelabra,
and centered with the
Anniversary cake served by
the UCW ladies. Mrs. Mabel
Glenn was the oldest guest
present at the dinner, and is
a very close friend of the
Roobol's.
An Open House followed
and the UCW served. Many
friends and neighbors were
present to wish the Roobol's
the best wishes. Guests at-
tended from Parkhill, Blyth,
Clinton, Exeter, Centralia,
Seaforth and Toronto. They
received numerous cards,
floral arrangements and
gifts, including a plaque
from Premier Bill Davis, a
scroll from Prime Minister
Trudeau and congratula-
tions from MPP Jack Rid -
rate
dell.
People report
Mrs. Carl Payne is a pa-
tient in Stratford General
Hospital, where she is
undergoing tests prior to
surgery.
Mr. and Mrs. Carrie Joynt,
Bethlehem, New York,
visited with relatives and
friends last week while
holidaying at Southcott
Pines with relatives.
Mr. and Mrs. Charles
Cooper left on Tuesday for
Ridgetown and visited with
OPP Don Mason, Mrs.
Mason and family and
visited with Mrs. Cooper's
son Mr. and Mrs. John For-
rest and family returning
home on Wednesday.
Dr. and Mrs. Robert
Mickle, Jamie and Craig of
Ayr, spent Sunday and Mon-
day with the former's
mother Mrs. Laird Mickle,
and on Monday they spent
the day in Bayfield and
Grand Bend.
Rev. Kenneth Knight
resumed worship service at
Carmel Presbyterian
Church on Friday evening.
Mr. Doug Klopp of Zurich
presided at the organ for the
LARGE EGGS
service of song.
Miss Mary Beth Jantz
returned from a pleasant
vacation to Calgary.
Mrs. Anthony Van Dyke of
Three Rivers, Quebec at-
tended the 50th wedding an-
niversary of her niece and
nephew Mr. and Mrs. Sim
Roobol and will spend
several weeks visiting with
them.
Mr. and Mrs. Harold Jones
and Mrs. Herbert Jones of
the Bluewater Rest Home
called on Mr. and Mrs.
Sian Roobol.
Misses Carol Dalton and
Lone Parker spent holidays
last week with their grand-
parents Mr. and Mrs. Harold
Parker.

Queensway Nursing Home
on Tuesday accompanied by
Mrs. Myrtle Sherritt at the

Miss Margaret Mousseau
enjoyed a bus trip to Toronto
on Sunday and attended Pro -
Life Rally at Queen's Park.
Baptismal service
There was a large atten-
dance at the United Church
on Sunday morning when
Baptismal service was held.

was given on Mary and Sim
Roobol on the 50th Wedding
Anniversary. The flowers in
the church were placed in
honor of their anniversary,
as well as in honor of the
marriage of Grant Love to
Lauren Webb, and of
Douglas Kyle and Sharon
Jacobi both married on
Saturday.
Next Sunday Peter Snell of
Exeter will be the guest
speaker and Shirley Luther
and Nan Britton will bring
the special music for the ser-
vice.

The Clinton swim team hosted a swim meet last weekend and woatop honors. The results

Kippen folk attend wedding

Congratulations are ex-
tended to Bill MacGregor
and Rosemary Cody on their
marriage in Ottawa on July
30th. Attending the wedding
from this area were Ronald
and Mildred MacGregor,
Nancy, Paul and Scott
MacGregor. Also, attending
from the Seaforth-Walton
area were Mary Ann
Heynesbergen, Bruce and
Jean MacGregor, Wayne
Nigh, Dave Reid, Ed Mc-
Clure, Ray and Linda
McNichol, Margaret Shor-
treed, and Janet Rae.
Relatives from Sarnia and
Toronto were guests as well.
Following the rehearsal on
Friday evening, grand-
parents of the bride, Mr. and
Mrs. Keyuk, entertained the
bridal party and out of town
guests in their home at
Aylmer, Quebec. A dinner
and reception were held in
the R.A. Centre, Riverside
Drive. After their honey-
moon trip the couple will
reside on a farm at R.R. 2
Kippen.

McGregor are visiting with
their daughter Mary Jane at
Lac la Biche, Alberta.

MacLean and Mr. and Mrs.
Ken' MacLean attended the
funeral in Goderich of their
brother-in-law, Wilson
Broadfoot.

ed home from a week's visit
with Mrs. Sterling Graham
