Salary settlement Ontario Hydro and the Society of Ontario Hydro Management and Professional Staff signed a memorandum of agreement on December 7 for 1982 salary and benefit im- provements. Subject to ratification by the 5,700 employees, the settlement calls for a 10 percent across-the-board salary increase, effective December, 31, and a non - compounded increase of 4.45 percent efective June 24, 1982. Robert Turner of Owen Sound was re-elected first vice-president and John Campbell of Bayfield was re- elected second vice- president. Re-elected to the Board of Directors at the Annual Meeting was David Ireland, Teeswater. The remaining Directors are: jack Stafford, Wroxeter; Howard Wilson, Owen Sound; Edwin Miller, Exeter; Fred Meier, Brussels and Don Ahrens, Elmwood- At the Annual Meeting, President, Russell McCutcheon, stated that 1981 had been the co-operative's mast successful since its beginning 23 years ago- This improvement in earnings over the previous year's operations was due in part to an increase in milk processing and improved efficiency of production. Mr. McCutcheon also stressed the competition in the market place was still very- tough erytough and much work still needs to be done in certain product areas - The co-operative acquired The '1 eswter Creamery in May and this would, long term, provide the co- operative with stability in its primary product areas of butter and powder production as well as provide an entry into cheese man ufacti ring. Peter A. McLinden, Chief Executive Officer, an- nounced that sales had risen. to $115,000,000, an increase of 17 percent over 1980 and net earnings had increased to $1,663,791. The financial position of the co-operative has remained strong and members' equity is currently 27 percent of total assets.
