The Auburn Women':: Mis-
sionary Society met at the
home of Mrs. Lillian
Letherland for their
November meeting. The
president, Mrs. Wilfred
Sanderson was in charge and
opened the meeting with the
call to worship.
The hymn, Jesus Shall
Reign Where'er The Sun,
was read in unison followed
by a welcome to all from the
president. .
The devotional period was
in the charge of Mrs. Lillian
'Letherland and she chose
Luke 22, verses 10-20 for her
scripture lesson. Her
meditation was a thoughtful
prayer on Ren r:mbrvlce
Day and she closed it tvith
Lest We Forget, followed by
prayer. The roll call was
answered by a Bible verse
containing the word -
Remembrance. ,
The Mission study was "
taken by Mrs. Frank
Raithby and she told the
story of a missionary in
Nigeria who had multiple
sclerosis. She had been a
concert pianist and carried
on her work in the churches
and schools of Nigeria.
The offering was received
by the treasurer, Mrs.
Frances Clark and dedicated
with prayer by Mrs. Sander-
son. Mrs. Clark gave the
financial statement
The . meeting was closed
with the hymn, Abide With
Me and the Benediction.
Mrs. Letherland served lun-
ch. After lunch, Mrs. Roy
Daer spoke a few words of
thanks to Mrs: Sanderson for
being president for several
years and presented her"with
a gift. Mrs. Sanderson thank-
ed all for the remembrance.
Quilting
Thirty-five ladies attended
the quilting course held last
Thursday in the Community
Memorial Hall. The leaders,
Mrs. Donald Haines and
Mrs. Gordon Chamney in-
structed all in the making of
templates for the piecework
quilt block and' also showed
how to do an appliqued quilt
as well as a piecework block.
Making picots was also
taught and mitred corners
done by all.
Next week, reverse appli-
que and seminole will be
demonstrated as well as str-
ing quilting and other
quilting.
The new method of putting
'together Grandmother's
Flower Garden was also
shown to the group this
week.
Trustees meet
The November meeting of
the • Auburn Trustee Board
was held in the town hall
with the chairman, Warner
Andrews in charge. The
minutes were accepted as
read by the clerk, Mrs. Gail
Dobie. .
The librarian, Mrs. Lillian
Letherland had made a tally
on users of the Auburn
Public Library and this tally
will • be forwarded to the
three township councils: As
trustee members had visited
the three council meetings,
each reported on the result.
Plans for the alterations to
the town hall and library
rooms are, underway.
Estimates for the work are
being asked for.
Gravelling and grading
will be done on Egmont
Street North to prepare the
road for the winter traffic.
Social news
Mrs. Wilfred Sanderson
moved to Goderich last
Saturday and has taken up
residence in the senior
citizen apartments on West
Street.
Mr. and Mrs. Emerson
Rodger and Mrs. Pearl
Rollinson of Toronto were
guests last Sunday with Mr.
and Mrs. William Helesic
and family of Goderich.
Mr. and Mrs. Richard
Hawley, Beth and Amy spent
the weekend in Cambridge
where Mr. Hawley preached
last Sunday at his former
home church.
Mr. and Mrs. Oliver
Anderson visited last week
with their son, William at
Toronto.
Recent visitors with Mrs.
Beth Lansing were Mr. and
Mrs. Allison Gardhouseof
Midland.
Winners at the weekly
euchre party held in the
Auburn Community
Memorial Hall last week
were: novelty, Ben
Hamilton; high lady, Mrs.
Lillian Letherland; low lady,
Mrs.. Ross Robinson; high
man, Kenneth McDougall'
and low man, Frank Cumm-
ings. There were nine tables
in play, Everyone . is
welcome. Games start sharp
at 8 p.m.

Mrs. McDougall returned to
Sudbury with them on Sun-
day to visit her son and wife
'and family at Sudbury.
Mr. and Mrs. Clayton
Robertson of Meaford
visited on the weekend with
her sister, .Mrs. Tom Jardin
and Mr. Jardin and also her
mother, Mrs. Elva
Straughan in Clinton Public
Hospital.
Mrs. Myrtle Munro return-
ed last week after a couple of
weeks' visiting in London
with her son, Donald
Youngblut, Mrs. Youngblut,
Barry, Bradley and Lorie.
Mrs. Arnold Craig return-
ed last Monday after a visit
with her sister, Miss Jean
Hamilton at Oshawa.
The Walkerburn Club will
hold its next meeting on
November 24 at 2 p.m. at thle
home of Mrs. Leonard Ar -
chambault. Mrs. Phyllis Mit-
cheil of Walton will
demonstrate the making of
ribbon bows. A Tupperware
party was held on Wednes-
day, November 18 at the
home of Mrs. Ted Hunking
and the proceeds will go to
the support of the foster
child.
