Eighth reunion held The eighth reunion of Li►k Matheson -MacLeod clan was held at the Atwood Com- munity Centre Sunday af- ternoon, April 26, when a delicious dinner was served by Mrs. Barbara Matheson to over 100 descendants of this clan. Mrs. Glen Whyte, the president, chaired the meeting and welcomed the members. An added feature was a reception for Rev. J. Ure Stewart, one of the clan, who on April 30th celebrated 74 years in God's service. Two of his family were present: Mrs. Marjorie Hammond, Moorefield and Mrs. Muriel Christner, Kitchener. His son, Dr. K.G. Stewart, Kitchener, 'on account of illness was unable to be Present; A grandson, Donald Hammond, Fergus, sang "The Holy City" and "How Great Thour Art", ac- companied by Mrs. Stuart Crouch, Seaforth, on the piano. After many years of research and labour Mr. Stewart completed a Genealogy of the Clan, which was reproduced in loose-leaf book form by Letter Service of Kitchener, of which; Mrs. Archie Cox, also a descen- dant of the Clan, who designed the book, is the owner. Rev: David Watson of Elmira United Church spoke briefly of Mr. Stewart's long and faithful ministry whilst Mr. Mac. Pratt, Listowel, also a:member of the clan, expressed the appreciation of the clan for his interest in preparing and having published the Genealogy, thus preserving the history of the Clan. Hewas presented with a guestbook and an address book 31 gold by Site caatre. - Several rose bushes also were presented to him by Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Paynter, Regina, Mr. and Mrs: Ralph Goodmurphy, Weston, Conn. and Mrs. Laura Stewart. A lively .sing- song was led by Mrs. David Watson, accompanied on the piano by Ken Christner, Kitchener, a grandson "Previous-to°the dinner, the vlle office's '(E'"Pip d in'to'the hued "table' by Gregory MacPherson, Seaforth, winner of so many gold and silver trophies and medals, who played several selec- tions on the bag -pipes. Pick your own starts The beginning of Ontario's fresh produce season also marks the start of the Pick - Your -Own program. Every year, more Ontarians are discovering the joy of pick- ing produce directly from Ontario farms, says marketing specialists at the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture and Food. It's an ideal way to obtain fresh On- tario fruits and vegetables, whether you plan to make preserves, or want a great family outing and an en- joyable way to spend a few hours. • Phone the farm before set- ting out. Check that it is open for business that day, and that the produce you want is available and ready for pick- ing. This is important because harvest dates and yields are subject to weather changes. Plan to arrive at the farm early in the day, to beat the heat and have the best selec- tion. And remember to wear cool, comfortable clothing to make bending and stret- ching easier. Most farmers will sell con- tainers but you may prefer to bring your own. Deter- mine how much produce you need and bring the ap- propriate containers. As soon as you arrive at the farm, check with the farmer for directions on where and how to pick the produce. The current list of Pick - Your -Own farms in Ontario is now available from the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture and Food. The list includes the types of farms, travelling directions and phone numbers.
