T e Family Brown
corning to Playhouse
Canada's foremost coun-
try group, The Fannnly
Brown, will be performing in
concert at Huron Country
Playhouse en Sunday, June
26at8p-m.
An institution in this coun-
try, The Family Brown had
their professional beginn-
ings in 1968 when 'Papa' Joe
Brown and drummer Ron
Sparling brought Joe's son,
Barry, and two daughters,
Lawanda and Tracey,
together as a unit. Virtually
unchanged for almost a
decade, The Family Brown
show added the talents of
Garry 'Spike' Spricer in
1979.
The Family Brown's rapid
success in the Ottawa Valley
led to their first television
show, "Country Way",
which later blossomed into
..Family Brown Country", a
show that is syndicated
across the nation. Their
records (among them R. R -
No. 2" and "It's Really Bove
This Time," and the album
"Familiar Faces, Familiar
Places") are powerful coun-
try songs- Many have been
so successful that they have
spilled over from the country
market to the pop charts.
Not confined to Canada,
The Family Brown have
shown their irrepressible
talent on international levels
- in Belgluin when they
played at the sprawling
NATO Headquarters in
Brussels; in Malone, New
York where they appeared in
front of 10,000 fans; in
England where they were
nominated in the 1981 Inter-
national Country Music
Awards in Wembley; and in
Northern Ireland where they
taped a highly successful TV
show.
When viewed in concert,
the awards, the success of
their television show and
their continuous string of top
ten records takes on new
meaning. Their stage show
is a perfect balance of
uptempo delights, ballads
and off-the-wall humour.
The seven -member unit
pride themselves on having
a family oriented show that
reaches across the age bar-
riers to touch each and even"
fan in a very special way -
the Family Brown way.
Tickets for the Family
Brown Concert are available
at the Playhouse and at HCP
outlets at Theatre London,
