On board
fire safety
Every outboard and in-
board craft is required to
have extinguishers located
in areas of accessibility. The
requirements are spelled -out
in the BOATING SAFETY
GUIDE, available without
charge from Transport
Canada.
It is imperative, for both
safety and insurance pur-
poses, that extinguishers be
inspected according to the
manufacturers' recommen-
dations. This should be done
by a q rson.,An
spection ell,
dicating date
and name of inspector,
should be attached to the ex-
tinguisher. Become familiar
with fire extinguishing
techniques by operating
them on live fires ashore,
under expert supervision.
