The school band was pounding out a march, making the assembly seem . like a celebration (one, two, three, hooray! School is over on this day! ) , on this CRSS' s grand finale. The assembly began with a trumpet sounding (agh !) , then the cheerleaders bounc- ed forward to jump around to''Jungle Love". The main function of the assembly was to hand out awards. The first handed out were letters for Huron -Perth competitors that had placed first in their events. Reci- pients were Scott Millar, Kevin Lee, Steve Corbett, Byron Boyes, Doris Lawson, Fred Radley and Bill Tugwell. Letters for Students Coun- cil Committee Heads went to Karen Cook, Marcel LaPorte, John L. Lawson, Dave Lobb, Terri Brandon, Wesley Delve, and Sharon East. Certificates were given to Jeff Semple, Thomas Bailey and Dennis Fox, who placed first in each Grade (9,10,11) in the Junior Mata hentest. The Girl's Chorus and the Girl's Curling teams were given letters. Then, to break the monotony of award giving, Laureen Craig and Jackie Norman sang (quite well, too) "Perhaps Love" accom- panied by Wesley Delve on Piano. Mrs. Carr handed out the Commercial Typing awards to Debbie Hall, Cathy Mustard and Patty Coleman. Barry, a mathwhiz hiz Has there ever been so- meone in your life that pulls off... oh say 100 percent in Grade 12 math in third term? Then this person pro- ceeds to win all sorts of awards in that field? Well, CHSS is honored to have such a person... Barry Turner. Barry placed in the top 2 percent of Ontario for the Euclid Math Contest. He, Wesley Delve, and Steve Rhoorda all received cer- tificates for their fine ef- forts. Then, Barry went on to win a Physics award, however (watch out B.T. ), Dennis Fox also won this award. MONARCH IMPERIAL SOFT MARGARINE 1 LB. TUB PAMPER - ASSTD VARIETIES CAT FOOD 6.5 oz. For the Art and Literary cont=.: , winners were Jerry Benjamins (first) and Bar- bara Gross for their art pieces that will be printed in the yearbook, and in the Literary division Cameron Moon placed first with Barry Turner second. Again, there works will be published in the yearbook. Spanish ®terlude "Yuchaaaw! ! "This was Mr. Almeida, he ran onto the stage, sombrero flying. He sang a Spanish song, that I didn't understand, but it sure looked like fun, especially with R.L. and Herm groov- ing behind him. The minor awards were presented by Mr. Moore ( who is rather minor in stature as we all know) . They were given to Tracey Erb, Barb Young, Donna Lawson, Doris Lawson, Laureen Craig, Julie Wright, I SUER SPECK LIBBYS FANCY QUALITY 12 OZ. KERNEL CORN, 14 OZ. Lawson, John Kuchnanistrz, David Lobb, Karen °Cook, Kathy MacDonald, Marie Wise, Sandra Coleman, Wesley Delve, Sharon East, Billy Tugwell, Randy Lobb, Denise Corbett, and Kathy Staddon. A speech from the school president was next on the agenda. Randy Lobb gave thanks, to everyone and everything from the students' council to admit slips. His "speech" was the in- troduction to the assembly committee's portion of the assembly.
