Father and Son banquet
for Beavers, Cubs and
Scouts was held on Monday
at the United Church, hosted
by the U.C.W. Following the
supper, the Swim -Up
ceremonies were held. The
Beavers swimming up to
Cubs were Derek Campbell,
Mark Deitz, Brian Gardner,
Scott Gould, Jeremy
Neilands, and Shawn Wurm.
The Cubs who became
Scouts were Jason Clarke,
Derryl Lawrence, and John
Rooseboom.
Benmiller Camporee was
held June 3,4,5 at the Ben -
tallier Conservation Park.
The Hensall Cub Pack won
1st prize award in the A2
division of the Effort Games
with 100 percent. The Hen-
sall Scouts won first in the
First -Aid and first in the
Portaging events.
Also at the closing
ceremonies the Scouts won
the trophy for the Best
Overall Scouts. Congratula-
tions go to the leaders of the
Scouts who are Tom Bailey,
Les Gardner and Larry
Moir. Leaders of the Cubs
are Ken Clarke, Kay Gard-
ner and Tammy Preszcator.
Special thanks to the cooks
and helpers who were Glen
Harburn, Darrell
Preszcator, Debbie
Lawrence, and Marg Clarke.
Also to Butch Hoffman for
his help with his trick and to
all the parents who
transported the boys up and
back and who stood behind
us throughout the year.
Children's Day
Creativity and imagina-
tion was used preparing the
Sanctuary and presenting
the theme for Children's Day
at the United Church on Sun-
day morning.
The theme "Children Are
Special" was brought out
through scenes in the church
in the Home; at play and at
school and in the centre was
the church with a white cross
depicting Christ's presence
with the children wherever
they are. The large banner
decorated the front of the
church along with the child
character's done in pastels.

Stebbins read the scriptures
and the choir sang a very
rousing anthem.

Citizens Sunday when all the
Senior Citizens are invited to
attend and following the ser-
vice are invited to a recep-
tion in the Fellowship Hall
put on by the Students of the
Sunday Church School.
Following the Service the
congregation sang Happy
Birthday to Mr. McDonald.
The Communications and
Outreach committee met to
make plans for the Hensall
Fair Float from the church.
They also made initial plans
for the showing of the film
"The Cross and The Swit-
chblade" starring Erick
Estrada and Pat Boone, in
November. They also made
special plans for Missionary
Outreach Education for the
coming year.
Explorers Meet
On May 30 the Hensall Ex-
olorers held their 3rd Annual
Family Banquet. Shirley
McAllister welcomed
everyone and the evening
began with a toast to the
Queen by Dorothy Brintnell.
After dinner toasts were
given by the Explorers and
their parents. The Star
ceremony was conducted by
Cathy Mann and Dorothy
Brintnell presented the first
year Explorers Stars; Marg
Cole presented the 2nd year
Stars and Shirley McAllister
3rd year Stars and gradua-
tion Certificates and E pins.
The girls who graduated
were Pam Gackstetter,
Sherri Maxwell, Janet
Mowat, Lori Harburn,
Christine Rose, Debbie
Lawrence, Dianne Stebbins.
Following the Star
ceremony, the Explorers
sang three songs they had
learned from Betty Beer on
their camp -out.
The Messengers held their
potluck dinner in the
Fellowship Hall on Wednes-
day evening with 50 in atten-
dance. There were 21
Messengers and four
graduates - Janet Thuss,
Trecia Regier, Angela
Gould, Johnathon Corbett.
Leaders are Evelyn Elder,
Cindy Taylor, Leslie Bailey,
Bonnie Gould, Cathy Mann
and Chief Explorer Debbie
Lawrence was on hand to
greet the graduates into Ex-
plorers. The group range in
age 4, 6, 7 and 8.
They visited Queensway
Nursing Home and sang
songs at Christmas and also
in May. They banded
together with the Explorers
and purchased a "walker"
and donated it to the Huron
Hope Nursery for the Men-
tally Handicapped.
