Agricrew
available
Agricrew is a valuable
program offered through the
Ministry of Agriculture and
Food that provides teams of
young people across the
province, experienced in
farming, to work for farmers
on a daily basis. Farmers
can hire crews to do projects
that they often may not have
time for during the busy
summer months.
An Agricrew consists of
one foreperson and three
crew members, all of whom
have agricultural
background. The foreperson
is responsible for tran-
sporting the crew to the work
site, and he or she supervises
and works along with them.
Each crew member is
responsible for his or her
own lunch and personal
protective equipment ( work
boots, gloves and hardhats
where needed), and all
workers are covered by
Workmen's Compensation.
A crew can be hired on a
daily basis for a maximum
of five days per farm. The
cost to the farmer is $90 per
day. Agricrews are available
any weekday June 27 to Aug.
