Bums UCW Meet Thirteen members of Burns UCW met at Ramona Jamieson's home for the May meeting. An invitation was received from Huronview Auxiliary. A motion was made to send $25 to the Flowers of Hope. A donation of U5 was made to the : able Society. Hazel Reid reported on the curtains for the Manse. A get well card was sent to Ross Leiper. Ida Leiper's team were winters in :,e copper contest. The winners will serve the dessert, and the losers the first course at the dinner meeting on June 7 at the home of Joan Middegaal at 1 p.m. A plant sale was held with Hazel Rid as auctioneer. .ellen students visit Huronview On May 2, there was a Science Circus at Goderich. Each class went at certain times. Grades 3,4,5,6,7, and 8. There were all different things from the Science Cen- tre in Toronto. It was a very enjoyable day. '.They placed second with a mark off 82, the winners had a mark of 84. On May 5 the Senior choir travelled to Walkerton to take place in the same Song Fest. Again they placed second with a mark of 83 and the winners a mark of 84. Reporter -Deanna Lyon Book Sale On May 4, Hullett school held a book sale. The sale was run by the Senior Creative Study Group. 1500 books were to be sold but the ones which were not sold were sent back to the publisher. The sale was open to the public from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. There were books for everyone from pre-school to adults. (Shelley McPhee photo) Auburn backs MS drive The first carnation can- vass for multiple sclerosis funds held in the Auburn and Blyth district last Saturday was a success. Members of the Leo Club which conducted the canvass were Dennis Schneider, Jannett Blok, Julie Daer, Janice Daer, Jamie Daer, Kim Scott, Jon Scott, Mike Mason and Steve Elliott. Following the canvass, lunch was served at the home of Mrs. Al Luna with Mrs. Ted Clark and Mrs. Dave Thiessen assisting. Play fills hall The Auburn Comgnurnity Memorial Hall was filled to capacity last Tuesday evening when the comedy play, Everybody's Getting Married, was presented by the Lucknow Agricultural Society. It was sponsored by the Auburn Women's Institute. Ross Errington played the part of Reginald, a man who had inherited a marriage agency. He had to find husbands for six women or lose a million dollars. His English valet James was played by Ian Clark. Social News The Auburn Women's Institute will meet May 17 and Mrs. Lawrence Plaet- zer, public relations officer, has the Blyth Fire Depar- tment lined up to demon- strate the new fire equip- ment they have recently purchased. Auburn is in the Blyth fire district. Scott Arthur, son of Mark and Mary Arthur, enjoyed his sixth birthday party at his home last Saturday. The video tape of Superman was shown on t.v. and birthday cake and hot dogs were enjoyed. Those present were Jonathan Collins, Peter Craig, Christopher Howson, Ryan Chamney, Todd Shaddick, Jason Clark and Jason Crawford along with his sister Rachel and brother Joel. Mr. and Mrs. Stanley McNall of Welland spent last weekend with Mrs. Tom Johnston and Miss Laura Phillips. The Auburn and District Lions Club is planning a rummage sale Saturday, May 14 in the community hall. There will also be a bake table. Nelson Moulden was surprised when over 60 children called on him last Monday to wish him a happy birthday. They all sang and each received a cup cake with a cane on it.
