The leaders gave the new members metric cups and measuring spoons to the senior members. A few minutes were made discussing the skit for Achievement Night, which will be held May 2 at 7 p.rn. at Brucefield school. Rebekahs Entertain The members of Amber Rebekah Lodge entertained the members of Edelweiss Rebekah Seaforth on Wednesday evening. Noble Grand Mrs. Margaret C'unsitt presided assisted by Vice Grand Mrs. Margaret Upshall. Mrs. Margaret COO Upshall reported for the visiting committee, the Treasurer, Mrs. Dorothy Corbett gave the financial report, Mrs Bertha MacGregor, JR P N G gave the District report and Mrs. Ruby Bell, R V G gave the finance report. Donations were made to the President's Project, the Home at Barrie and to the 50th anniversary of the Brussels Lodge J une 4. Hurorue Lodge Clinton will be guests at the meeting May 4th Mrs. Edith Dunlop, Noble Grand of Seaforth thanked the Lodge for the invitation. Please keep these dates in mind. 4- A large nuniber of people from Hensall and district visited the Peebles Funeral Home, Atwood on Thursday of this week and also at- tended the funeral in Atwood Uruted Church for the late Mrs Carl McDonald, mother of Rev Stanley McDonald. t Dinner guests on Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Sirn Hoobol were Mr. and Mrs. John Konynendyk of Woodstock. Mrs. McDonald dies Mrs. Carl McDonald, the former Hilda Helena Hewitt, died at the Hiemstra Rest Horne, Listowel on April 20 at the age of 82. Mrs. McDonald was born July 7, 1900 on second of Elora Township the second daughter of Arthur K. Hewitt and Almeda M. Stanley. Following her marriage to Carl McDonald on April 16, 1924, they lived on the sixth of Grey until their retirement into Ethel. Mr. McDonald died on August 24, 1974 and Mrs. McDonald moved into Atwood and July 1982 she moved tc, the Hiemstra Rest Home in Listowel. She was a very active ests to sup member of the cnuren ani prior to her marriage was a member of the Listowel United Church and a choir member She was a former member of the Women's Institute and for many years was a reporter for the Listowel Banner for the Ethel District. Surviving are two daughters Mrs. Norman (Grace) Coghlin and Mrs. Chester ( Ruth) Earl of Atwood and one son Rev. Stanley McDonald of Hen- sall. The funeral service was conducted from the Atwood United Church on April 22 with Rev. Harry Steven assisted by Rev Eric LeDrew conducting the service The choir and organist of Atwood United Church led in the ministry of music. The pallbearers were her six grandsons. United news Hensall United Church was filled to capacity on Sunday morning when 10 persons were confirmed through Profession of Faith. The ser -vice was conducted by Rev. McDonald with r Marlin Nagtegaal as organist. Those confirmed were Leslie Anne Bailey. George Clinton William Blackwell, Brenda Jean Dayman, Joanne Blanche Dayman, Heather Anne Jamieson, Timothy Douglas Mann, Mark Douglas McGregor, Michael Grant McGregor, Rodney Harold Parker, Bonnie Lou Rowcliffe. Mrs. Sharon Wurm assisted the minister and the Elders taking part in Laying on of Hands were Bill Bailey, Shirley McAllister, Shelley Parsons, Kay Mock, Pat Cook, Jim McGregor, Cindy Taylor, Irene Davis and John Rowcliffe. The ushers were Ross Sararas, Alf Ross, Harold Parsons, Lloyd Ferguson. Harry Stuart greeted wor- shippers. The flowers at the front of the church were placed in loving memory of Mrs. Ella Drysdale by her family and in loving memory of Mrs. McDonald, mother of Rev. Festivities began with a pot luck dinner. Guests were present from, England, the District President, Mrs. Gordon Papple, Jean Young, Director of Home Makers from head office in Wingham, Lauretta Siegner, Director of Home Makers representing Exeter. Mrs. James Chalmers introduced the guest speaker Jean Young of Teeswater. She showed pictures of the help given to the old and handicapped in their own homes and was thanked by Mrs. Robert Kinsman. Annual reports were presented by Treasurer Mrs. Vern Alderdice, the P.R.O. Mrs. Stewart Pepper, Mrs. Robert Kinsman, Mrs. Alex McGregor, Mrs. Campbell Eyre, Mrs. Harold Parsons, Secretary Mrs. Grant MacLean and the President Mrs. Grace Drummond and the Auditors. Mrs. Al Hoggarth District Director reported on the last board meeting. Mrs. Gordon Papple spoke briefly and thanked the ladies for her pleasant evening. Mrs. Drummond gave some interesting readings. Mothers and friends were invited as guests at the party. Mem- bers had prepared games for part of the evening and made food for the party from various countries. Meeting opened with the 4-H pledge and members then answered the roll call. Books were examined, blanks filled in and foods from each country highlighted. Topic for the skit "Celebrating the Multicultural Way" was discussed. Achievement night is May 2 in Brucefield Public School. People report Mrs. Al Hoggarth held an afternoon tea for mothers and daughters honouring her mother's birthday. Mrs. Ashard and her daughter Janet from England are visiting the Hoggarths. The Brucefield United Church Youth Group held its re -organized meeting on April 18. Before the official meeting such activities as picnic table making and ceramic pictures were en- joyed by all. This was followed by the election of officers: President, Monica Speziale; Vice President, Jerry McBeath; Recording Secretary, Mary Jane Parsons and David Moffat.
