Clinton council reed
Monday Knight to send to a
public cnaanaannitee a new
study that recommends the
yr_ air -old Clinton Town
Hall be renovated and
restored.
If all their plans work out,
there will be a new floor in
the Clinton arena by the start
of the Spring Fair on June 2.
A new floor will cost an
estimated $100,000 to
$150,000. Grants will cover a
major portion off the cost and
$30, ,; I to $50,000 will be
raised through a door to door
canvass.

Clinton will have a new
industry that could employ
up to 15 people. Council
passed a bylaw to sell nine -
and -a -half acres of Clinton's
industrial land on the
Bayfield Road to Marcon
Ready Mix Company of
London. Clinton received $50
per acre in the deal.
The line-up formed early
at the Pineridge Chalet in
Hensall last Monday night as
more than 3,000 came to the
barbecue to meet Liberal
candidate in the Huron by-
election, Jack Riddell. The
people were commuted from
their parked cars on High-
way 84 to the Chalet by a bus
because of the soggy road
conditions.
Spring has arrived early
this year in Huron County
and at Bayfield the ice was
out of the harbor and the
traditional "silk top hat"
ceremony using a christy
stiff was carried out last
Saturday as the first ship of
the year tied up at Bayfield.
Donald McLeod of Bayfield
was the first in with his boat,
the W.J. McLeod, after
spending the winter at
Goderich, beating Port
Stanley.

At Clinton council a bill
from Ionald Switzer for
$94.70 in payment for broken
springs in cars operated over
town streets, and another
from Reeve Stanley for $43
for the same thing .were
referred to the Insurance
Company.
The rutabaga industry has
grown rapidly in the past few
years with prices on the
increase, from 40 cents to
$1.50 per bushel. Russell
Dougherty of Blyth reported
12,000 bushels on hand in the
Blyth warehouse with 7,200
bags due to be shipped this
weekend, mostly to
American cities. He said the
industry loc,'ly brings in
$200,000 yearly in United
States funds.

If there are too many trees
on the street in front of your
Clinton property, see the
chairman of the street
committee about it.
In Blyth Mr. William

The revival meetings at
the Blyth Methodist Church
are still going, over 30
having come forward and
manifested an interest
concerning salvation.
Drs. Kill and Kure - The
literature caused to he
distributed through town last
week by these two medical
quacks from Detroit, should
have been suppressed by our
authorities. The circulars
contained matters of the
most indecent nature, and
ought not have been per-
mitted into any respectable
family Of the reputation of
the worthy pair, we need say
nothing more than that our
town is provided with skillful
physicians who are known to
us all, and there is no
necessity to patronize
foreign frauds who trade on
the reputation of qualified
pract itioners
