The secretary Mrs. Ted Clark opened the meeting with the business and members decided to use the money raised by the child: en at the Skate-A-Thon to purchase equipment for the playground. As this is the end of the year, the books will be audited. Several aiew ideas for future events were discussed. Two projects to start this month are the Junior card party for the Teens and hopefully a Children's Hour during the March Break which will be a movie and treats. The first card party for Teens will be held on March 18 at the Auburn Community Memorial hall, 7-10 with a fee of 50 cents to cover expenses. The next meeting will be held on March 19 at the home of Mrs. Ross Daer. New members are welcomed. Meetings are generally scheduled for the third Tues- day of each month. People Report The March meeting of the Auburn Silver Tops will be held March 16 with dinner starting at 12:15. There will also be a film shown and shuffle board will be played. Everyone over 60 is invited to come and join this group of Seniors. Country members are to bring salads and vegetables and village members should bring desserts for the pot -luck din- ner. Mrs. Kenneth McDougall along with Mrs. Robert Peck and Mrs. Lenore Davidson of Blyth attended the London Regional Conference of Women Alive held i.n the Holiday Inn City Centre, London last weekend. Over 15111 women from many places in southwestern On- tario attended this inter- denorninationalconference. Mrs. William Reck of Kit- chener returned home last weekend after visiting with her aunt, Mrs. Elva Straughan and Mr. and Mrs. Tom Jar,! in. World Day of Prayer New Persons in Christ was the theme of the World Day of Prayer service held last Friday afternoon in the Auburn Missionary Chapel. This prayer service was written by Christian Women c in the Caribbean. Mrs. Dave Thiessen the leader., welcomed all and Mrs. Lloyd Barth and Miss Elaine Snell 0 were the ushers and gave out G the programs. Mrs. Thiessen welcomed g all and Mrs. iIionald Haines j was the pianist. The leaders pi s projects from tale other churches were - Mrs. Donald Cart- wright, St. Mark's Anglican Church Women; Mrs. Donald Haines for Knox United Church Women; Mrs. Eleanor Bradnock, the Presbyterian Women's Mis- sionary Society and Mrs. Frank Raithby, The Auburn Missionary Chapel. Mrs. Thiessen sang a solo accom- panied by Mrs. Haines. Rev. Dave Thiessen, minister of the church was the speaker of the afternoon. His theme was on prayer and he spoke of the importance to every day life of each per- son. He urged all to consider prayer as talking with God and how lives can be chang- ed if needs to self and others can be communicated to God by prayer. A session of prayer followed and Mrs. MarilynCampbell closed this session with prayer. Rev. William Craven rector of St. Mark's Anglican Church gave the benedic- tion. Winners at last week's euchre party were: Novelty, Clarence Allen; high lady (playing as a lady) Bob Armstrong; low lady, Mrs. Donald Cartwright; high man, Kenneth McDougall; low man, Pete Jefferson. Auburn Women's Institute will hold their March meeting on March 15 in the Community Memorial hall at 2 p.m. The guest speaker will be Martin Maurer of Goderich who was exchange student at Venezuela last year. Everyone is welcome. Mrs. Robin Allen of Len- noxville, Quebec, visit ,- last Thursday with Mrs. Myrtle Munro. Mrs. Lillian Letherland, Mrs. Roy Daer, Mrs. Frank Raithby and Mrs. Eleanor Bradnock attended a meeting last Thursday even- ing in the Mitchell Presbyterian Church to hear Linda Kriklewetz, a return- ed missionary worker from Lesotho, speak of her work and show pictures of the country and its people. Auburn Silver Tops were guests last Wednesday even- ing of the Goderich Senior citizens at the Mackay cen- tre last Wednesday evening. They answered the roll call by naming a Chinese, Japanese, East or West In- dian dish they had tried, followed by a discussion on foods from China and India. They completed their spice chart and cooking techni- ques from India and the Orient were learned. Final plans for the party for meeting six were made, this will be held at the home of Mrs. Lynn Chamney on March 28 with the theme of the party being Italian. The girls sampled the foods they prepared. They enjoyed the Kima which is East Indian curried ham- burger dish served with rice, the gingerbread and West In- dian peanut Punch. The girls will not meet again until March 28. Auburn and District Lion's Club met last Wednesday evening in the Community Memorial hall with the presi- dent Lion Jim Schneider in the chair. Dinner was served by members of the Booster Club. Sixteen members and five visitors were present. Plans were made for the St. Patrick's dance on March 12 when Tyme - a country and western band from Mit- chell will supply the music. In other business a letter was read from the Booster Club stating they would assist with the .pad, getting games to play on it. Mrs. Bonnie Armour and daughter Julie spent last weekend with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Jardin and grandmother, Mrs. Elva Straughan. World Affairs meeting ;;y Mrs. Lewis Stonehouse The World Affairs meeting of the Belgrave Women's In- stitute was held in the W.I. Hall and started with a potluck meal served to over t friends and family. Mrs. Garner Nicholson, program convenor, introduc- ed Mr. Harvey McDowell of Myth, who showed slides of Florida taken in 1979. It was decided to invite the Dairy Princess, Marion Taylor to a meeting later in the year. An invitation was received to visit the Maple Keys Sugar : ush in March. Mrs. Bert Johnston was asked to go to Officer's Con- ference in Waterloo on May 3, 4 and 5. It was decided to cater to the Morris Federation of Agriculture dinner on March 10 and the East Wawanosh Federation dinner later in the month. The secretary was instructed to apply for a vendor's permit in order to collect tax for meals. The girls enrolled were Lana Thompson, Darlene Black, Crystal Black, Trisha Taylor, Sherry Taylor and Krista Bird. The girls were welcomed into the Pack, which was formed this past January, by five Brownies who transferred from Wingham. These girls are Lori Crawford, Verdell Jessup, Jenna Ruttan, Chelta Vair and Joanne Crawford. rownies meet Tuesdays from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at Knox United Church, Belgrave. Euchre Twelve tables were in play at the weekly euchre which was held in the W.I. Hall on March 2. Happy birthday About 100 relatives and friends gathered at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Mc- Crea of Blyth where they ex- pressed best wishes to her mother Mrs. Winnie Vincent in honor of her 80th birthday which falls on March 10. Mrs. Vincent makes her home with her daughter and son-in-law Mr. and Mrs. Mc- Crea. Tom Black attended the annual meeting of the On- tario Blonde d' Acuitaine Association in Oshawa, on February 26. The regular monthly meeting of the Belgrave Women's Institute will meet March 15 at 8:15 p.m. in the Institute Hall. The con- veners are Mrs. Ross Taylor and Mrs. Bert Johnston. At the close of a good day of hockey, a trophy was given to the top scorer of the eight teams which was donated by the Teeswater Printcraft and was won by Robert who scored five goals and assisted on four. The McKillop Unit was in charge of devotions. Mrs. Alberta Hudie led in the wor- ship assisted by Mrs. Olive Dennis giving prayer and Mrs. Esther Dennis reading the scripture. Mrs. Edith Wey gave the Topic on Communications, with a display of books and material from the Resource Centre in Mitchell. Business was conducted by Mrs. Helen Craig. Minutes were taken by Mrs. Viola Kirkby in the absence of recording secretary Mrs. MildredTraviss. Plans were made for the Musical evening at Duff's Sunday evening, March 13 at 8 p.m. featuring Seaforth Harmony Kings and local talent. A social hour to follow later in the basement. Arrangements have been made for the Thankoffering service, Sunday evening, March 10 with Rev. Bruce Eaton as guest speaker. In April there will be an ex- ecutive meeting the first Wednesday afternoon of the month. World Day of Prayer A good crowd from Duffs attended the World Day of Prayer service in Brussels Mennonite Church ladies from the five Brussels chur- ches and Duff's participated in the service New Persons in Christ with Call to Prayer by the Caribbean People.
