BRITISH GRAIN TRADE.
Lodon, April 26. -The Mark Lane Express,
in its weekly review of the grain situation
to -day says. -"The backward state of the spring
wheat showing is even more marked hi France
than in England. The shilling advance in Eng•
lish wheat since tho holidays is entirely due tel
foreign complications. The farmers have not'.
co-operated in the slightest,
and continue t
u
flood thewheat market. They have, however,
only yielded to force mujeur. They no longer
possess the capital to hold grain, and the way
they are• flooding the market is an emphatic
negative of the idea that the cereal farmer is
prospering. Foreign wheat is held at two shil-
lings advance, in consequence of the war, which
however, is not wholly in favor of lthe Holders,
as the Greek farmers are selling freely at Odessa
Malatz and London. The ready money thereby
obtained is devoted to help their countrymen
in arms. These sales check the advancing
tendency of prices. Russian shipmentsdoubled
last week, and exports from Roumania in-
creased. English and American flour advanced
