In , this International Women's Year, it is apropos that the 18 -year-old student of Optornetry at Waterloo Un(versity'should receive'this honor; She is following a family tradition as her brother, Brian, received the top honor four years ago. Miss "Miller was awarded the Robert McKinley citizenship trophy for out- standing participation in,,4-H home and community ac- tivities, and the Huron Soil and Crop Improvement Association award -for ,but - standing achievement in 4-H Meld crop clubs. She has completed 20 projects and has been active on the 4-H youth council. Len MacGregor, extension assistant, for Huron County with the ministry of agriculture and food, co- ordinated the event in which $1,100 in cash and cern tificates, pins. and plaques were awarded to the mem- bers of 28 clubs. Mr. MacGregor reported there was 92 per cent .com- pletion by the "379 club members participating this year in the 478 projects. Rob Stewart, RR 1, Hen- sall, received the C. S; MacNaughton trophy for having the highest .4-H score in the county — '938 out of 1,000. 'He received the Canadian Canners trophy for the highesto score in the Exeter sweet corn club. .The Warden's novice award went to first-y.ear member Carol Dougall, RR 3, Exeter, with the highest score in the first year. Ruth Alton, RR 2, Lucknow, won the J. •A. Anstett award for the highest score in the 4- H beef clubs; the Huron Hereford Association award for the highest 4-1-1. score excluding score on .Hereford calf; -and the Huron Milk Committee , ,award as high dairy judge. As the highest scorer in 4-H dairy clubs, Diana Brand of RR '3, Clinton, received the Canadian Imperial Bank _ of. Commerce award. Mark Harding of RR 1, Gorrie, was awarded the Huron Pork Producers Association trophy for the. .highest score in 44-11 swine clubs and for `being a first year member he received the • Bank of Montreal, Clinton branch, award. Another double -award winner was Marguerite Snell, RR 1, Clinton,. winning the John Franken Memorial trophy for the highest score in 4-14 horse. clubs and the Jack Riddell trophy as champion 4- H sheep showman. Oscar .,Meier, RR 4, Brussels, won the Cliff McNeil trophy with his champion 4-H .-holstein calf and the A. Y.
