President Mona Davis of the Goderich Auxiliary was honoured to present the bursaries toy the girls. Shelley • is takjng the Arts Course at 'Sheridan College, Oakville, and Sharon is at- tending Ryerson University in Toronto with hopes of becoming a Home Economics teacher. . Shelley and Sharon are the daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Tigert of Port Albert. Mr. Tigert a' member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 109. At least ten bursaries valued at $500 are awarded to students in each of the nine legion districts of the Ontario Command. In addition, Provincial Command also has an emergency bursary fund from which Rosemarie Foran was awarded $250. President Mona Davis also presented Rosemarie, daughter of Mr, and Mrs, John Foran of Auburn with her cheque. The value of bursaries awarded in Ontario to help further education of veterans' children and including emergency assistance totalled over $64,000 in 1974. Apart from Command the Ladies Legion A •xili.ary to Branch 109 Goderich jointly with the Branch present bursaries to worthy students each year. This year over '11500 was presented: The recipients in this area were Joan Schoenals, Goderich; Shelley and Sharon Tigert, Port Albert; and Shelley Grange of Auburn. The fourth meeting of the Taylor's Corners Dough Heads was held November'8 at the home of Lynn Hildebrand Mrs. Rodges led the discussion on bread judging and bread faults and their causes, • Each girl brought a loaf of the sour dough bread that she -had .baked in the past week. They judged this bread and discussed the causes 'of the various faults . The girls also discussed the use of bread in various dishes. Lynn Hildebra rd and Karen Rodges demonstrated the making of a cheese puff while Janet Rodges •and Marjorie de Boer made hamburger stacks. Next meeting will be held November 15 at the Rodges home. Provincial Command 'of, the Ladies Legion Auxiliary. (Legion photo ' . Mr. and Mrs. Gordon McClinchey celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in the Auburn Community Hall recently. They were married at the Auburn manse on November 4, 1925 by the Rev. W.R. Alp who is now retired and living in Toronto. ' Following their honeymoon to Stratford they ,.farmed on the 3rd Concession of East Wawanosh until May 1, 1971 whenthey retired to Blyth. The couple have two daughters and five sons, Mrs. George (Eileen) Haggitt of Blyth; Mrs. Alvin (Jewel) Plunkett of Auburn,; Robert, of Grandview Lungh, Blyth; William of Cobble Hill, Vancouver Island; Norman of West Wawanosh and Dave and John of East Wawanosh. She has one sister and two brothers, Mrs. Worthy (Dorothy) Fowler of Goderich, Tom of North Bay and Oliver'of Auburn. Mr. McClinchey is the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John McClinchey of East Wawanosh. He has three sisters and one brother,,Mrs. Charlie; (Katherine) Robinson of Wingham; Mrs. Charlie (Esther) Potter, Parkhill; Mrs. Charlia (Iona) Jefferson of Donnybrook and Sydney of RR•1, Auburn. A dinner catered to by the Auburn Women's Institute was held for the immediate' family and a few close friends. This was followed by` a short program consisting of, instruiffenTals f- instrumentals and duets. A large crowd attended the reception and.dance. Guests were there from Michigan, Toronto, North Bay, Cobble Hill .B.C. Petawawa, Jordan, Windsor, London, Parkhill, Lucknow, Rodney and surrounding areas. The couple received congratulations and best wishes from the Governor General and Madam Leger, Robert Stanfield, Robert E. McKinley, Prime Minister Pierre E. Trudeau, and also a Scroll from Wm. Seaforth Silver Spurs Club. In the judging competition awards: Barry Miller of RR 3, Exeter, won the Blatchford •••1• Feeds Limited trophy for having the highest score; Jim Fairies of Gorrie won the C.I.L. trophy as high swine judge; Paul Drennan of Dungannon, was awarded the Cyanamid of Canada award as high sheep judge; Dave Mewhinney .of Lucknow receive,, the Huron County Beef Improvement Association award . as high beef judge; and Rose Marie Flynn, RRi , •Clinton, was presented with the Winston Powell award as high horse judge. Nd'vember 4 and 'planned several club projects for the fall,' The members voted to place, a wreath at the cenotaph on—Remembrance Day and decided to hold card parties in the future to raise money for expenses. The first party will'.be on November' 14 at MacKay Hall beginning at 8 p.m. Admission will be one dollar for an evening of euchre and 500 and lunch and prizes will be included. - The lodge received a letter informing the'rn of a meeting on November 12 in Clinton at 8 p.m. to make plans for the United Nations Pilgrimage , for Youth meeting to be held in the Clinton High School when' students of the district secondary schools will take part in a public speaking contest. The winner will receive a trip to New York City and will visit the United Nations building.
