The Junior Vikings settled into a tough defensive struggle with the Huskies heading into the dressing room at the half with a slim 7- 6 lead. The senior coach said he had expected Exeter to pass against the Vikings and his expectations were true. `They passed on us all afterncfon•," said. the coach. The win over Listowel saw a much improved offensive performance by the Vikings. They were able to move the ball effectively both on the ground and in the air. Improved blocking by the offensive line was credited by coach Ray Donnelly as one of the main reasons for the Vikings offensive success. The Viking defence which has played well all year, allowed Listowel only 60 yards passing and held them to minus yards rushing. Gerry O'Brien, for the second time this season, ran back the opening kickoff for a Viking touchdown, going 90 yards enroute. Iain Lambert kicked the convert. Bernie Van Osch got the Vikings' second major when he recovered a blocked kick in the Listowel end .zone. Van Osch and Al Worgan were responsible for blocking the kick. In the second quarter, Listowel conceded a safety touch to give the Vikings a 15- 0 halftime lead. Lee "Wong" Arbour broke loose for two Viking touch- downs in the third quarter. The first came on a'54 yard option play, the other on a five yard dive. Scott Little scored on a three 'yard dive and Gerry O'Brien rambled 30 yards for the final Vikirtg touchdowns: Lambert kicked two ton- verts and Steve Chase booted a single. to round out the Vikings second half scoring spree.
