,PCB Concern may dull fishermen's taste for salmon steaks
-Recent reports from some
. fishermen in the area that fish
caught nearby do not- taste
good, brought a comment from -
a representative of the Fish and
Wildlife Division of the
Ministry of National Resources
in London last week.
According to- Richard
Loblaw, if fish don't taste good
it is probably because fisher-
men are' over -reacting to a
Ministry of Health warning
about PCB content in cohoe
salmon caught in the Great
Lakes.
PCB - poly chlorinated
biphenol - is believed to cause
some . genetic problems in
humans if consumption is
.regular over a- long period of
late ummer fruit

Elsie Proctor samples a raspberry from one of the two quarts she picked from her garden
last week. She and her husband Alvin Proctor of Goderich Township, have enjoyed the
berries' from theiroverbearing plants all year. They say though that this is the most they
have had in one picking and they have never enjoyed berries this late in the year. Mrs.
Proctor said they had raspberries instead of the traditional pumpkin for Thanksgiving"
dinner and if the weather holds they will beable to'have fresh raspberry pie in November.
