The Goderich girl's bantam softball team won its way to the
South Western Ontario finals this season, bowing out in the last
round to Tavistock. The team members are (front row from

Last week,, the Goderich
Chess Club welcomed back two
more of last year's members -
Laird Eisler and K irk Lyndon.
Kirk Lyndon started off his
season perfectly winning his
only game of the night., The
only other member with a
perfect win loss record is Dave,
Weary who won both of his
games to take sole possession
of first place with an 3 and 0
record.
Larry Gower was the big
surprise of, the night, winning
three of his four games to move,,
into' the first level with an
impressive .687 win loss per-
centage

The United Church Women's
meeting was held in the church
on September 9 with Mrs.
Winnifred Girvin in charge.
Theme of the meeting was,
"Stewardship and Vocation"
Two readings- were read,
"Willingness" and "The
Stevvardship of Energy" by
Mrs. Girvin.
This part of the meeting was
,-1' closed with prayer.
Mrs. Helena Young
welcomed everyone and led the
business part of the meeting.
Roll call was answered by
thirteen members. Thirty-two
sick and shut-in visits were
reported. Minutes of the last
meeting were read and
adopted. Treasurer's report
was given by Mrs. E. Feagan.
Arrangements were then
discussed for the lunch after
the Anniversairy „service on
Sunday October 19th. The
service is at, 11 o'clock with
Rev. George Watt as special
speaker. Sunday School will be
cancelled but hope everyone
will come to church.
The Huron -Perth Presbytery
will be held in Holmes'yille,on
October 21 and it is hoped as
many of the ladies will try and
attend as possible.
