The 'program ,is being
sponsored by the Quebec
Ministry of Transport, Marine
Branch.
- Bell Voyageur 004 was put
into service between the
mainland and the • island on
May 19, when it was deter-
mined that a ramp for the
normal ferry service , had
become too weak to carry loads
of mote than 5 tot's.
Being amphibious,. the
.Voyageur operates ' from
beaches without the need for
docks. Operating 8 to 5 week-
days, the . craft has hauled
nearly 400 trucks weighing up
to 15 tons.
Since it' moves on a layer of
air captured 'by its' flexible
skirt, Voyageur has a top speed
*of more than'S0 miles per hour.
It makes the 21/2 mile trip from
island to shore in less than five
minutes, compared with 25

Service to the island follows a
six month trial operation with
•the .Agence Maritime fleet
delivering cargo to remote
'communities along the Lower
North Shore of Quebec. The
cargo duty was performed in
temperature as low as -29,C. -
The craft traveled over
water, know, ice; sand and
grass during the operation. It
provided a service to the
communities during .February
aria March which was never
previously feasible. , .
As a , lighter, Voyageur
delivered up to 9 tons of cargo
. in one day to he -isolated
communities.

Mr, Kalbfleisch who placed
first in second year at Osgoode
Hall Law School, also received
a scholarship from the Toronto
firm of Davies, Ward, and Beck
as he placed first in the school'•
in the combined courses of,
Corporate` Commercial,' and
Tax Law.
An additional award was the
