(staff photo) Study reveallih Valueof insulation clear A report 1emonstrating the economic value of, insulation for mechanical systems in buildings' was presented to the Honourable Dennis R. Tim- brell, Minister of Energy by the Master. Insulators' Association of Ontario recently. The report covers a number 'of insulation opportunities and states that energy savings as a result of insulation of loot pipes, justify insulation in the majority of applications • because of the relatively quick return on the investment. In one example it is estimated that 'the cost of ap- plyi'hg one inch Of insulation to 100 feet of pipe is recovered in just 'over two years. In this period, the energy saved would heat a typical' 'bungalow n Kingston throughout an'entire heating season. In” a rllentino• with T'R Blandford and H.W. Near of the Master Insulators' Association, Mr. Timbrell noted the significant energy savings indicated in the study, and commended the organization for their contribution to good - energy management 'in • un- dertaking the research. "'I hope other private organizations will show an - equally strong commitment to 'proper, energy managet'nent;"- Mr. Timbrell said.. Mr. Timbrell reiterated his interest, in all energy con- servation' programs and pointed outto the Association that the Ministry of Energy is co-ordinating the Energy Management Program which is aiming for a $1 billion reduction per year in ' total energy ex- penditures across all sectors of Ontario's economy by 1980.
