admitted they have never played golftheir putting stance shows some potential. -(staff photo)
One of Goderich's most
popular leisure spots is the
Maitland Golf and Country
Club. This summer five local
students work there full-time. -
Two tend 'the' Pro Shop, and
three more work in the dining
room. -
Una Costello, Anita .Doherty,
Shelley Tigert,• Joanne
Doherty, and Alice, Gerrits all
work. for the country club, yet
not one of them is a golfet. ,It
doesn't hamper their ability to
work there, hov ,oyer.
Shelley, 'Joanne and Alice
work in the dining.;, rdam,
'waiting "'on" tales, ' cleaning,
tending bar and occasionally
' coking for guests. There's
`always : something to do' and
they keep busy: Traffic has'
been good in the dining room so •
far this year, and Jennie Rowe,
their boss, hopes it stays that
way. '
The Pro Shop . is almost
always busy, from 8 am. to 9
pm.,---•ancr the girls who work
there are' constantly on their
'toes. Many guests have visited
the course, and many people
from -town are taking up the
game at the course.

Study reveallih
Valueof insulation clear
A report 1emonstrating the
economic value of, insulation
for mechanical systems in
buildings' was presented to the
Honourable Dennis R. Tim-
brell, Minister of Energy by the
Master. Insulators' Association
of Ontario recently.
The report covers a number
'of insulation opportunities and
states that energy savings as a
result of insulation of loot pipes,
justify insulation in the
majority of applications
• because of the relatively quick
return on the investment.
In one example it is
estimated that 'the cost of ap-
plyi'hg one inch Of insulation to
100 feet of pipe is recovered in
just 'over two years. In this
period, the energy saved would
heat a typical' 'bungalow n
Kingston throughout an'entire
heating season.
In” a rllentino• with T'R
Blandford and H.W. Near of the
Master Insulators' Association,
Mr. Timbrell noted the
significant energy savings
indicated in the study, and
commended the organization
for their contribution to good -
energy management 'in • un-
dertaking the research.
"'I hope other private
organizations will show an -
equally strong commitment to
'proper, energy managet'nent;"-
Mr. Timbrell said..
Mr. Timbrell reiterated his
interest, in all energy con-
servation' programs and
pointed outto the Association
that the Ministry of Energy is
co-ordinating the Energy
Management Program which is
aiming for a $1 billion reduction
per year in ' total energy ex-
penditures across all sectors of
Ontario's economy by 1980.
