people are ready. for the'
tourists and summer people:-
hundreds of them who will visit
our toWn at -this time.
This 'is actually THE big
ltho' this year with the Cen-
ennial '75 Cbmmittee in full
sw,iing:;,. many wonderful events
are and have been taking
-place- 'and each one 'illibigger
and better than any we have
had before— or so it seems.
This years' events are only
practice shots to what we will
have in 1977. Hew about THAT!
. :The Festival of the Arts,
. started in a Small way.over 11
•years ago as Art 1Vlart, has
blossomed Ahis year, `With, the
.hard work of a few enthusiastic
people who are forgetting •the
late nights of planning and
discussions, the sore muscleg
from making up eq4ipment
such as the new easels and the
unekpected 'snags Where co-
operation .was , expected, . are
no.w overjoyed. There were a
few of us who had doubts
regarding.. thil big 'program
really getting 'results when"We
wei-e so' late in getting.started,
I WaS' one. of the doubters, since
many of .the regulars• were
already booked ,for other Craft

Pat and John Lee pushed for
a good photography section --and
and they knewexactly what to
do.' With the help of Pat and
Neil Hamilton, Sandra Gilson,
Janet Bargh, and a few others,
they, have had many pleasant
surprises.
Now you, too, will be able to
enjoy .then• in the photography
section. °

with '•great enthusiasm;,. I
'thought -but I have yvorked with
these groups over theyearsand
enjoy the organizing. The
whole;- thing with' -Givens'
• oatdoor Art'Gallery' .was a real
challenge, but ev'eryone.'pit-
ched in to get a• f i ne brochure in
the- mail Co hundreds of names
unknown to most of us.
Several gals helped with this
and t e really appreciated their
time they spent --and I'll -bet

The Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.
girls took .over th.e task of
creating a -nice Tea Garden -
funds to help their hospital and
other 'projects. Everyone has
worked hard getting a lot of .
goodies ready for this,
`hopefully, FUN1 three days. •

Art Gallery' was finally„worked •
out with two fine artists ac-
cepting her invitation to select
one of three,entries or all to this
sectio( and talk with rithe,artiist
oti his or her work. This is

I'm sure if yoi'ftake your time
and enjoy this interesting
section of t`he Festival you will
come . away with a greater
appreciation of the effort that
goes into these creations,.
Many artists work all winter
in order to sell their art during '
the sut,rner months.' The same

applies to the variety of crafts
you will see there and some cf
the craftspeop.le:.7' plan to
demonstrate. ; their , work -for
,your added pleasure. These
are alt -people who have a talent
and believe they must work it.

Courthouse. Each .exhibit is a
great work of art even tho' they -
don't think of it that way ,-- so
we are proud of this fine group
of gardeners and their lovely
dis1M1ays,.
Their theme' is appropriately vi iitors acquainted- Then,
called "The Good Old M..ys there are trips about town, for
and you can browse a long time. sketching or shutterbugg.ing or

There are babyysitters in the
park ready -to entertain your
youngster while ,you browse.
This is, a- great idea and -Mrs,,

This year; in .thee Ontario Provincial. Police Coloring
Contest, you could win two days in Toronto with the OPP:
This particular contest has two purposes, Pir's£;4the7OPP
hopes it will remind vehicle operators to,slowdown and obey
the "flag person" at highway construction sights, It will also
afford young 'citizens an opportunity tb becdme 'involved
with the OPP during their summer holidays.
Contest material and entries are available at the Goderich
Signal -Star, The contest ends August 13.
