Point Farms was no exception
as all empty campsites
disappeared by Thursday
Each year' the visitor ser
r vices staff celebrate the July
weekend with a Canada Day.
Approximately 200 campers
participated. Events
representing each section+ of the
country were heldr
The, Great Snowshoe race..
was 'very 'popular. Two long
planks with ropes on each side
to strap In your feet are used
with about eight members to
each set of "snowshoes-".
Then the race begins, ' With
' bodies Swaying and- 'tumbling
arideyes peeled 'on the .finisli
line, each team makes its, way
across the field.
Also held were sandcastle
building contests, water games
and a baseball - game It was
rumored thata Montreal Expo
scout was one of the 50 team
members. atithe-game.
No weekend' woad be
complete without a big cam-
pfire with good songs and lots of
marshmallows. Watching the
sunset' and the—stars shine"
brightly over the campfire one
could not help bt feel proud of
'their country

Saturday, July 12 there is a•
-surprise for all'., It is said that
Harry Who-Dian-lt, the famous
God -Mc -Pi magician; will be in,'
the.park from 2,73 p.m. to amaze
everyone. This is so'rnething
you definitely shouldn't miss.
That weekend , a' women's
' theatregroup fromToronto will
be a so doing a production. The
group .calied Tomorrow's Eve
has plays concerning_ women's
role in society,. They have both
an adult and a children's
performance. They will be in
the activity centre' at the park
fr,cm' 2-3 p.m. on Sunday af-
ternoon.
