Lawn Bowling is now under
way with the ladies jitneylast
Wednesday. There has been a
lot of activity at the greens this
spring since- new lights had to
be installed and other things
updated.
The Club is hoping to attract
many new members this year
and have bowls on hand for you
to use and special teachers to
help get you started.
This is a great game— if you
have ever curled you will love
lawn bowling.
Young eighteens and up to 80
and over, can enjoy this game
— it is easily learned and you
don't need to think it is difficult
or tiring. We have quite a
number of our older citizens
playing now and hope many
more. will come out.
Come over any evening or
Tuesday afternoon and try it: I
know you will soon be a great
member enjoying a great
game.
Last ,Saturday nite at the
Sorority May Ball I thought a
miracle was happening. Our
former taxi driver, who has
been fighting an uphill battle
for many months since his
stroke, couldn't resist the
music and danced with
everyone within reach -- most
of them he didn't have to reach.
— they came to him.
He used to cut..,a mean rug —
enjoyed, every minute of it --
and
and to not be able to walk freely
or dance has been a great blow
to him.
"Can't make that darned left
leg undersand what I'm trying.
to do," he complained, but he
still tried and we all ap-
preciated the great effort he
made.
This fight takes will power,
guts and pain pills and I think
.he's got it beat.
Last week..I twisted a couple
of dates around— sorry, girl's. I
hope I haven't fouled things up
for these nice groups.' Both the
ladies 'at Knox Church Arthur
Circle and the ladies at St.
George's Church are holding
"Nearly New Sales".

1975 International Womens
Year will focAs on the rights of
women all over the world. The
status of women is not Only a
social issue, it is a nursing issue
too.
It is being called the Golden
Year and it will, indeed, be a
year of information and • eye-
openers.
This being the 50th year of the
Registered Nurses' AsSoCiation
o1,Ontario, Mayor Deb Sbewfelt
and Council have proclaimed
the week , of June 1, to: 7 as
"Nurses " Week" - 'with r the
theme: "Nursing ... out of the
past ... an exciting future".
Thought provoking.
The nursing profession,
predominantly woman's
profession, has been attracting.
more and more men each year
and registered 'male nurses in
the armed forces have now
been given the same status as
nursing sisters
Problems such, as salary
levels, recognition for the need
of university education and
nurse participation in policy
and decision making in health
matters, has come to the at-
tention of the International
Women's Year Committee who
will help focus the promotion of
equality in every respect
between men and women as
this affects the nursing
profession.
Nurses Week also will point
up the need to promote health
and alleviate suffering in the
cobimunity. Of the Registered
Nurses Association, Huron
County has 114 members living
and working:in Huron County.
There are 58 local chapters of
the R.N.A. throughout Ontario
with over 17,000 members.
An anniversary book titled
"Nurse" a stor'.yabout people
who care, will give a glimpse of
what some nurses are doing. in
1975. This will be on the market
shortly.
