Blue Mountain Tourney, the
'Lions encountered • Camp
Borden and again, 'led 4-1 en-
terti ng the final period. Borden
came on and tied the Lions,'but
reaching the end of the game,
God.erich,scored two unan-
swered goals to win 7-5.
Diunneville was the Lions
opponents for the' .Cham-
pionship Game. Playing their
be.st game of the weekend, they
put forth a concentrated team
effort to become the Blue
Mountain Consolation Champs
with a 9-4 victory. The Lions
began the scoring and never
looked back.
In the weekend action the
Lions scored a total of 26 goals
and both Brian Shewfelt and
Stephen Gallow came forth
with strong support in the net.
Robty Trebish sparked .his
team mates by his untiring
efforts on the ice and led the.m
to victory in the Tournament.
Mike Hodges was also a key...
player for the Lions in the
weekend win.

have won their first encounter
'with Orangeville last Wed-
nesday night, February 19, by
producing a 5-2 victory over
the Orangeville Club,
Randy Graham and Danny
Maillet led the boys against
Orangeyille, with Graham
scoring one and assisting three
times and Maillet scoring two
and assisting two. Robby
Trebish added one goal and two
assists; Larry Madge, one
goal; and Stuart Crew, one
assist.
The Lions Pee Wee's are'now
ready to face their second
game in the second game of
OMHA playoffs. Orangeville
travels to Goderich to face the
Lions on Thursday, February
27, at 8 p..m.

HOUSE LEAGUE
In the final two games of the
regular schedule, played on
Monday night, February 17, the
Goderich 0.13, P. defeated
Goderich-Restaurant 3-1. This
means the O.P.P. team finished
with. 23 points and are,now tied
for second place with Sifto Salt
who lost their second game 3-2
to Denomme Fliowers.
Goderich Restaurant opened
the scoring at the 2:31 mark. of
OgLas..,John—R oss,,
heat Scott Wilson from the
point. Rick Ftyan started the
play.
The O.P.P.s tied the game on
Rob Jeffrey's unassisted 'goal.
There was no scoring in the
second period as • both'
goaltenders ,came through with
excellent saves. Dan Redpath
scored the tie' breaker late in
the third period for the O.P.Ps
and before the game ended,
Rob Jeffrey got his second goal
of the game. Scott Wilson held
the Goderich' Restaurant.

In the second game,
Denomme Flowers went ahead
2-0 on first period goals by Del
Mitchelrnore and Ted Doherty.
Ron Huff was responsible for

The second period was
playoff hockey* both teams
featured,. close checking, and
good goaltending as • neither
team Scored. Starting the final
period, Johri Clements made a
nice move to let Denomme
Flower's goalie know he meant
business, and at the 13:55
mark;scored.
Then' John -Fluff tied the game
for Sifto Salt. as, Mike Wedlock
fed him a perfect pass. It
looked like Denomme Flow#rs,
Was doomed but 'Wes McLean
carried the puck up the ice
from his own end and after
being stopped at Sifto Salt's
blue, line, managed to flip the
..puck over Steve Sager who was
left unprotected in front of his
net and beat Paul Bellinger as
he let a high one go over Paul's
shoulder.
This gave Denomme Flowers
a 3-2. victory as Sifto Salt was
unable to tie the game after
pulling their goalie with. less
than two minutes remaining in
the game.
The playoffs are as follows:

This should be 'an interesting
two out of three series. Then we
have Denomme Flowers who
can display good hockey *-
times. It's anyone's guess who
will win, My money is on the
underdogs.

three, Goderich Restaurant
won the first game Monday
evening 3-1 over the Goderich
O.P.P. Rob McDonald opened
the scoring at -the 9:03 mark,
beating goaltender Scott Wilson
with a high hard, shot,',,
unassisted. Very,close play and
close checking by both teams in
the opening period.
Goderich O,.P.P. missed
several opportunities feat Ihe
equalizer in the 'period.

the lead to 3-0 in the second
period a Rob McDonald came
through with two more goals,
Dave Parsons assisting on

his fourth shutout of the year
and Wes McLean picked up two
goals playing his best game of
the season.

Denomme Flowers opened
the scoring in the first two
minutes of play as Ted Doherty
picked up Paul King's pass and
beat Paul Bellinger on a shot
which he 'was partly screened
on. Wes 1VicLean skated around
thedefense to make it 2-0 On a
low drive, unassisted.
Sifto Salt had several
chances to score in the second
period, but they just couldn't
hit the net ,and when they did,
the defepse covered up. On two
breakaways, one by Steve
Boyce who missed the open net\
and the other Robert Cum-
mings oUt guessed J.C.
Clements who failed to trigger
it hOme.
Before the second period
ended, Paul King made it 1-0.
Arian Bos started the play.
Final Denomme goal was by
Wes McLean who seemed to be
all over the ice, as he skatein
over the blueline, went through
the defense and let one go to
make the score 4-0..

In the first round of the
W.O.A.A: consolation playoffs,
the, Falcons played back to
back with Hanover. Saturday
night in Goderich w,ith a 5-4
victory for Hanover and then."'
Sunday night in Hanover when
the Falcons retalliated to a 7-4
victory.
Saturday night's game was a
tough one for the Falcons.
Hanover scored the first goal at
the 19 second mark of the first
period. By the end of the period,
the score . was 'Hanover 3,
Goderich 2. -

Paul Helesic, both unassisted
breakaways.
In the second period, both
sets of defence' were strong.
Hanover scored. once • more
making it 4-2 and Seconds later,
Goderich came back as Dale
Duncan. received a nice pass
from Steven Arbour at centre
ice and went in on the Hanover
goalie.In
the third period, it. could
have gone either way but once
again, ,Hanover got the first
goal of the period and Goderich
carne back with the last goal of
the game on a three way
passing play as Ronan Conlon
was set up by Steven Arbour
and Rick Stoddart, and made
no mistake.
In net for ' the Falcons was
Tony Bedard who played a good
game and came up with some
key saves.
In the second game of this
Round Robin Series, the
FalCons travelled to Hanover
and displayed good clean
hockey. With strong deter-
mination, they walked over
their opposition to a score of 7-
4.
By the end of the first period,
the score was 3-0 for the
Falcons. Goals by Dale Dun-
can, unassisted, Roger Lewis
unassisted, and Gary Peters
from Paul Dodgherty . and

Within 10 minutes of play in
the second period, Hanover
,carne -back -with ,two -quick -ones -
from the point for a score of 3-2.
ButGoderich soon came back
as -Paul Dougherty scored ori a
three way play from Roger
Lewis and Gary Peters.
Hanover scored the last goal of
the period making it 4-3.
In the third, 'Goderich came
on strong and in the- first two
minutes of play, scored two fast
ones for a63 lead. The. goal
scorers were Rick ' Stoddart,
who picked up a lopse puck in
his own end, carried it to centre
ice then let a slap shot go. What
a goal!
