Knox Arthur Circle meet

The Christmas meeting of the
Arthur Circle was held in the
church parlor on December 16.
The meeting was opened by
our president, Agnes Cutt with
a Christmas poem.
' The minutes of the previous
meeting were read, followed by
. the correspondence and the
• reports of various committees.
Virginia Lodge donated a
dozen cups and saucers to the
group and it was voted that a
note of thank§. be sent tc
Virginia for her kindness.
The annual reports of the
various committees were' read.,
and adopted,
Earl Salter favored with
three numbers by Gordon

Lightfoot, accompanying him-
self on the guitar.
Lee McCallum presented the
treasurer's report_ and it was
noted that members•we.re able
to over subscribe the allocation
by approximately $500.000. Lee
also read a letter re expenses
and givings.
The installation of the 1975
officers was conducted by Rev.
G.L. Royal who presceded the
installation with an 'inspiring
message on devotion.
The devotional portion of the
meeting was conducted by Lee
McCallum, who chose to use
the Christmas service of wor-
ship from the December Glad
Tidings, called The Greatest
gift.
Incoming president, Mary
Wray, was invited to take the
Lchair. Mary thanked the group
for their .confidence in her,
selecting- her to fill this
_honoured position.
She announced that there
would be an executive meeting
at her home on January 13 and
that, as is the 'custom, the
January meeting would be on
January 20 taking the form of a
pot luck dinner.
„A social half hour followed
the meeting.

Auburn couple celebrate 40th
Mr. and .Mrs. Gerritt
Beimers of Auburn were
honored last Friday evening on
the occasion of their 40th wed-
ding anniversary with a dinner
at the home of Mr. and Mrs.
Lloyd •Machan and family of
Hamilton Street, Blyth.
After dinner over 20 friends
and neighbours in Auburn and

in East Wawanosh surprised
Mr. and Mrs. Beimers. Reg
Shultz congratulated the couple
and a ruby glass bowl con-
taining an arrangement of ruby
shaded carnations and baby
mums, a crystal cake plate and
other gifts were presented to
them..
Both Mr. and Mrs. Beimers
thanked thjr friends for the
gifts and th evening planned
for them.
Mr. and Mrs. Beimers have
lived in Auburn for .six years
after retiring from farming in
East Wawanosh. Prior to that,
they had lived at Kirkton on a
dairy farm, Mr. Beimers also
worked in the cement plant at
St. Marys. They both are mem-
bers of the Christian Reformed
Church at Blyth.
Mr. andMrs. Beimers lived
at St. Jacobi Parochi and were
married at St. Anna P,arochie,
Holland. They came to Canada
April, 1949. He farmed cash
crops and sold coal and stove
oil.

Gerry. enjoys gardening, Car-
pentry, raises monkeys and has
several doves, Mrs.jBeimers en-
joys knitting, reading and

Many cards and flowersas
well as other gifts were
received to mark the occasion.
Mrs. Machan and her daughter
June served it delicious lunch
and anniversary cake.
SOCIAL NEWS
Mr. and Mrs. Gary De Veau
of Holm'esville have purchased
the home of Mr. and Mrs.
Gerry Klaas.
The Auburn Recreational
committee report that the sum
of $1466 has been collected up
to date. It is hoped that the
goal of $1500 will be raised by
the end of the year.
