(continued from page 1
on something we don't need,"
said Thomas.
Deputy -reeve Stan Profit of
Goderich reiterated a
statement . he -'-had- made " of •
earlier meetings. "Maybe the
municipalities should do a lit-
tle for themselves," .he said.
"How imperative° is planning to.
you people?"
Reeve 'Mcllwain said the
whole Bounty is "Underwriting'
the cost'of the planning depart-
ment" 'and has a right to•expert
servLee. °
Deputy -reeve Ginn added
that there would be "greater
consistency in . planning
throughout the county, if we
' hire extra staff at' the county
level."
"Another planner is the an-
swer," . said Reeve Harold
Lobb, Clinton."
Qualified planners are not
only expensive, they are scarce,
according to Chairman Mair.
He said there was a good
chance Huron might ,not even
be abler to hire °-qualified plan-
ner if it offered top dollar - the
province is paying planners
1624,000 , Warden Bill. - Elston
reported.
Mair suggetted that perhaps
priority should be given to' first -
preparing plans for those areas -
of municipalities adjacent to
urban centres where the bulk of'
the problem seem to arise.
"The townships should get
off their asses and do
something," insisted . deputy -
reeve Frank Cook, Clinton., "Or
let's hire a qualified planner.
arid get on with the job."
Reeve ' 'Derry Boyle, Exeter, -
agreed'. Hb said ' each
municipality should be
prepared to spend a tt e ex
money to expedite the planning
in Huron.
"If it's a planner you want,
this is the -'place to say so,"
stated -.Jack_ McCu.tcheo.n,-. reeve
of Brussels.
Those opposed to the' plan-
ning hoard recommendation to
hire a trainee, and in favour of
sendi'r g the. matter back to
