Last week was. a real bad -one
for me, so please overlook my
mistakes.
I want to correct one impor-
tant item. I said. the Rebekah
Lodge Card Party would be this
Friday afternoon, but it • is an
EVENING affair at MacKay
Hall starting at 8 p.m.' (Nov.
29). -
The Lodge Ladies have a
BIG evening of euchre and 500

be fouled up because my
thinker was off kilter.
There is nothing I tike better
than .•a- thumpin' game of
euchre, With only five cards
what have you got to THINK
about? ?LAY them, and have
fun.
Last week I received two let-
ters, one of which you.' may
have read in the Letters to the
' Editor. THAT one said plainly
that they •didn't like my
"wand'ring" among the adver-

blame them - even tho' I en-
joyed doing it.
So, Gerg - or Greg - ? how
'about helping us organize • a
frig jumping contest - next
summer - IN Goderich. (You
didn't read the letter?) Next
summer is our 125th Anniver-
sary of Goderich becoming a
Town.
1977, I' believe - will be about
150 years since the founding of
Godericlt, ,wee Goderich. So you
see, we should be doing. some
celebrating - nothing costly -
but fun things that everyone
can "enjoy - and you are in
charge of the frogs. Please keep
in touch.
Another nice reader writes,
"what has happened to' ow

Viking roundballers
take consolation
The GDCI Vikings sehior
boy's basketball team got their
season off to a promising start
fast Saturday by winning the
consolation championship at
the Lancer Invitational Tour-
nament held in Petrolia.
The Vikings‘ lost the opening
game to the host, Petrolia
school, by a close 37:34 score,
of Sarnia 50-27 to take the con-
solation round title.
Against Petrolia, the Vikings
played well in the opening
quarters, but lack of con-
ditioning caught up with the
Vikings in the second half, The
game was the first of the season
for coach Phil Bugler's Vikings,
while the Petrolia team had
played -five previous games. -
The Vikings led 18-12 at half-
tinie, but trailed 26-24 after
three quarters.
Jim W4tt v/hs the top Viking
point -getter against Petrolia,
with 1g. Mike. Wildgen had
hearing the church bells.
"Is it because some people.
don't Jike to be awakened by
them?" 'May be . that's what is
wrong with the world. We all
b
need to awaken to thrae fact that
Sunday is still God's Holy Day
and not just another holiday."
Something is missing, but I
understand the Knox Church
bells chime every Sunday mor-
ning about 10:15 for about fif-
teen minutes. If the wind isn't
right I wouldn't hear them in
that short time, but it is nice to
know that they are still ringing.
Thanks Pearl, your messages
delivered, your kind words ap-
preciated.'

Lucknow surpriseSaliors
BY JACK CUMMINGS •
Lucknow Sepoys upset
Goderich Sailors last Friday
evening to a surprised crowd of
just over 200 fans.
The Lucknow Hacketts Farm
Equipment Intermediates
broke the game wide open in
the final five minutes to win 5
. No scoring in the first period
as both teams played very
poorly especially' the Sailors
who were disorganized, and
just couldn't put the puck past
Bob Odonoue in the nets' for
Lucknow.
Lucknowopened the scoring
at the 1:34 mark of the second
period as both teams were
playing five aside, on an ex-
cellent passing play. John Eni-
berlin beat Rick Toth. Ken
Houston and Bill Kilpatrick set
him up.
The Sailors ° came rolling
right back and tied the game 15
seconds later as Tom Crawford
was set up by Dirk W ol'terbeek.
Jim Hayter gave Goderich
Sailors a 2-1• ldad"at the 7:33
•mark of the third period as Jim
Fairish- cleared the puck to him
and they finally beat Odonoue
for the Sailor's second goal. .
The star ,of the game was
Lu•know•'s goalie Bob Od'onoue
who made some fantastic glove
saves to .hold Lucknow in the
game as' they tied the score at
ther•'10:18 mark on a goal by
Dave Black.
Then the roof fell in at the
14:50 mark. Goderich, a man
short, John Emberlin scored
his second goal to =give
Lucknow "a 3-2 lead. Sailors
fought back, pulled their
goaltender, but this failed, as
Jim Murray in an attempt to
clear the puck out of his end
played it beautifully as it went
all the way to make it 4-2. With
only one second remaining
John Emberlin was set up by
Paul Frayne who blasted one
past Rick Toth for his third
goal of the game.
Sunday's game in Milverton
was a different picture as .the
Sailors went to Milverton to,
play hockey and won the game..,
6-4•.
-In the . first period, Dirk
WolterbeeK,,npened the scoring
on a play set up .by am
McDonald. Milverton got , this
one hack as Doug Weber
knocked in a shot from, the
blueline. . ' • •
Only five ;penalties :were
411111111.,
called in the game. The Sailors
picked up four minors and
displayed a better brand of
hockey.
John Fenwick made the score.
2-1 as he blasted 'one from the
point. Wane Fisher started the
play. Then on a play that
Goderich lost control of,
Milverton made it two all
before the first period ended
and went ahead for the first
time 3-2 on a goal by Don
Harrow.
• Sailors fought back to tie the
score on a play set up by Jim
Farrish and John Fenwick,'
Wane Fisher made no mistakei.
Before the second period 'en-
ded, Jim Farrish, who played
one of his best games, combined
with Wane Fisher and Wayne
Doak to give Goderich the lead
4-3, ( ,
Jim Hayter, who hasn't been
at his best, finally got going in
this game as he went through.
the whole ,team to score
unassisted and 'make it 5-3. -
Milverton came back with a
goal by McDonald but before
the bell rang, centreman Jim
Farrishmade' it 6-4.
Next: game, Kincardine
Bulldogs will be iii tciwn Friday
night at 8:00 sharp.
