Goderich Township man named top 4 H-er

A 20 -year old RR 2, Clinton
Man was named all-round 4-H
member..at the 27th annual
Huron County " 4-1-1 club
Achievement Night Friday at
Central Huron ' Secondary
School, with nearly 400 in 'at-
tendance.
George Thompson, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Robin E. Thompson,
of Goderich•,Township, received
the Robert'McKinley" 'Citizen-
ship trophy for outstanding
participation in 4-H home and
community activities. "'
Len MacGregor, extension
assistant for Huron County
with the ministry of agriculture
and food, said Mr. Thompson is
"a real supporter and promoter
of 4-H, not a trophy winner but
is in' it , for individual par-
ticipation". •
Mr. Thompson is studying
architectural drafting at Fan-
shawe College at the present
time.

Victoria and Grey Trust Com-
pany award as champion 4-H
swine showman and Huron
County Beef Improvement
Association award for high beef

The Warden''s novice award
for a first year member with the
highest score was presented to
Sharon Colclough of RR 4,
Clinton, also the John Franken
Memorial trophy for, the
highest score in 4-H horse
clubs.
Barry Millerof RR 3, Exeter,
as ' champion all-round
showman received tie Toronto
Dominion Bank award and as
champion 4-H beef' showman,
the Murray Gaunt award.•

Anstett Award and Fred Meier
of RR 4, Brussels, with highest'
score in 4-H dairy clubs;
received the Canadian Imperial
Bank of Commerce, award.

the Cliff McNeil trophy with
his champion Holstein calf, and
Rick Ford of RR 1, Woodham,
won the Canadian • Imperial
Bank of Commerce award with
his champion gilt. Joey Arts,
RR .4, Seaforth, as a first year
member had. 'the highest score
in 'the swine club and received
the Bank ,of Montreal award.

for champion Hereford calf and

highest score excluding Score
on 'Hereford calf.
• The Stewart Procter award
winner was Chris Procter, RR
5, Brussels, a grandson Of the
man the award commemorates.
He received ' the award for
having the champion Shorthorn
heifer. Another Procter award
'winner was Dave McWhinney
of RR 1, Lucknow, for his
.champion Shorthorn steer,
Marguerite Snell RR 1, Clin-
ton, was a, two -award winner
when she received the OId•Mill
award with the highest score in

trophy for highest score in 4-H
tractor club and the Huron Soil

Canadian Co-operative Wool
Growers award. Jim Nivins,
RR 3, Auburn, had the highest
score in the Plowmen's Club
and 'received the Jim Arm-

Seaforth, had the champion
corn exhibit 'and- won the
Russell- -Bolton Trophy and
Barry Gordon, -RR 1,4Seafi�rth,-
with champion -ship white bean
exhibit, the Cook Trophy.
Rick Fines of RR 1, Bluevale,
with championship grain
exhibit, won the W.G. Thomp-
son Trophy; Mark Harding, RR
1, Gorrie; novice with the
highest score in judging com-
petition, won the Canadian
National Exhibition shield;
Grace Alton, RR 2, Lucknow,
with highest score in dairy
judging won the Huron Milk
'Committee award; and Harry
Franken, RR 2, Auburn, as top
sheep. judge, received the
Cyanamid of Canada award.

and Christopher Meier of RR 4;
Brussels, had the championship
gate sign; and Ross Jeffrey, RR
1, Wroxeter, had the champion
maple syrup exhibit.
