•I'hv game was a
'struggle between two fine toot-
-ball teams with the Vikings
storing the game', only touch-
down in the fourth quarter.
It carne on a 25 -yard ;)ff-
tackte run on a triple option
play handoff to Scot Little
The success of this play
depends on the ability of the
quarterback to read the op-
position defence and choose the
right option. On this play
-Viking quarterback Iain Lam-
bert made no mistake in han-
ding off to the fleet -footed Lit-
tle. It was the first time in the
game that the Vikings had used
the option "play: It was ironic
too that Little should,•he the
ball carrier on,two of the three
plays in the touchdown drive.
Before the fourth quarter :the
Viking full -hack pointed out to
the . coaching staff that he had
been inadvertently overlooked
in the Viking's play selection.
Quarterback. Lambert wasted
no time in correcting the over-
sight and three plays later the
Vikings had the touchdown
that gave them the Huron -
Perth championship.
But the Viking victory was,
above all, a team .victory. In
three, playoff games, .she junior
Vikings outscored their op-
ponents 72-0, showing the
balance of 'offensive power and
d,,fPrisiva_.stre,ngth that-'ca.r..riecl-
them to the championship,
Iain Lambert's abilities as a
quar•terbac•k; punter, place-
kicker and defensive back were
vital to the team's success as
was the running of backs Tom
0' -Keefe and Scot Little.
They were aided_ by what
coach Phil Bugler called the
hest offensive line in the league
made up of Bill Gauley, Brian
Howes, Bill Durst, Tim•
McLean, Keith McLellan, .Jim
McKinnon and Jon Bary.

at middle linebacker was a two

Shawn Dalton stood out as a
tough defensive corner hack.
Bill Walters and Terry Austin
were two starters who missed
the finals because of injuries,
Phil Arthur. and Mark Frayne
%%ere punt return specialists.
Arthur had. two touchdowns cin
runbacks during the season.
