Last week, Jim Weary won
his sixth game without a defeat
to remain in second place in
Level 1. John Kane won his
only game of the night to ad-
vance to the first Level for the
first time this season. Glen
Falkiner extended his winning
streak to five ganies enabling
him to take the lead in Level 2.
After a very slow start,
Harold Kloeze has now won six
in a row and surged "all.the way
from a last place tie to third
place in Level 2. Darr"ell Kloeze
won both of his games to jump
from Level four into Level- 3.
Robert Cox also moved up from
the lead in Level 4 to a third
Level position. Kathy Weary
snapped a seven game losing
streak with two wins in three .
games to jump into the lead in
Level 4.
I would like to welcome back
to the club this year two mem-
bers who were with the club the
previous two years. Reinhardt
Voelmle and Laverne ' Riley
both won all of their .games,
Reinhardt Voelmle has proven
to be a tough competitor as two
years ago he won one of three
games against Charlie
MacDonald in ,Level 1 semi-
final play. Laverne Riley is also
a very strong player, proven by
his second place' finish last
year:,, Laverne managed to pick
up a draw in one of his games
against Charlie MacDonald in
last years first level finals.'

Society,, held its meeting in,.the
Community Memorial Hall
.ith the president, Mrs. Ken-
neth Scott in charge.
After Mrs:r Scott welcomed
the ,visitors and members, the
minutes were accepted as read,
by the secretary, Mrs. Beth
Lansing', The financial
statement was given ,a by° the
treasurer Mrs. Eleanor Brad -
nock. A piano duet -was played
by Misses Doris Ikrayldr aid
Janey Arthur.
Mrs. Russel Brindley in-
troduced the guest speaker of
the evening, Mrs. Sony Moore
of Goderich. She showed pic-
tures of Goderich and surroun-
ding district and gave in-
teresting commentary. Mrs.
Greta ' Vanstone of Goderich
also commented on pictures
taken of her flowers, Mrs. Ed
Davies thanked Mrs. Moore
and on behalf of the Society
presented her with a trillium
cup and saucer.
Roll call was answered and
each member received four
bulbs' for indoor blooming.

should be served to get the

The men's opening stag on
- Friday from all reports proved
every bit as successful as ours.
Mrs. M'i•ller.served a great meal
and I heard that the prizes
were nice too.

It takes a great deal of time
and effort to organize these
draws. We can show our ap-
preciation by turning out prom-

games in which we are

meeting held October 30 in

Vanastra Gun Club's skeet
shoot last Saturday. Each of
them hit 23 out of 25 target.

Morris gets..
conservation
area grant
The. Honourable Leo Bernier,
minister of natural resources,
announces • the approval of a
provincial grant of $18,500 to'
the Maitland Valley Conser-
vation Authority' -for the
proposed Morris Conservation
Area.
The Authority is proposing to
acquire some 210 acres of land
in Morris Township for the
establishment 'of this Conser-
vation Area. The property " is
located- about 25 miles east ,of
Lake Huron and' about two
miles north-west of the Town of
Brussels. The land is slightly
rolling with 80 acres in heavy
bush, 60 acres of bush and
scrub, and 05 acres clear with
old farm buildings. It is the
source area for two intermit-
tent streams which drain into
the. Little' Maitland River. •
The area will be managed for
the purposes of source area
protection, forestry, wildlife
management and conservation
gducation.
All member •municipalities
will bear the 'Authority's share
of the cost.
