In asking the question Henry

situation. He . asked if the
situation could come to the
point jwhere a government
might consider defiance of a

should have issued it at least
three months before the
program ,took effect. The local
pharmacist added that it is now
extremely hard to obtain.,some
of the drugs listed.
Mr. Vance also attacked the
government for 'not consulting
members of his profession who
work daily in the field. He com-
mented that many of the drugs
that should be on the for:-
rnylary are conspicuous : by Ps''
absence. '
Mr.. Gaunt agreed that the
advertising of the program had
been somewhat misleading and
had. raised expectations unduly
among those'who are to be af-
fpcted.
He recounted a discussion he
had°with Dr. Dyer, the Ministry
of Health official who heads
the program. ' The MPP in-
dicated that he had asked Dr.
Dyer if all the furor that had
been raised about implemen-
tation of the program had effec-
ted his view that the plan was
proceeding as it should.,
According to Mr. Gaunt, the,
docdor. replied that most of the
' complaints were • coming from
Metro Toronto and those
covered under welfare schemes.

He also added that he thought
a lot of the problems were
being caused by drug
w,hotesalers whose products
weretl"t on the fbrrrm:ulary.,
At this' point the MPP reppr-
ted that he had told the'
ministry official to take another
look at the complaints becatise
the hue and cry 'was ' coming
from all over the province from
all types of people.
Storeowrier Lorne Car-
michael asked the MPP if the
prowinee would, follow, the
federal government's lead and
take' sales tax off clothing.
Mr. Gaunt replied that he
thought not, and although
there had been such a move
considered in recent years, the
legislature had not discussed
the matter .for. some time.
