Committee, Joan Black, Ruth Beuttenmiller and Isobel MacDonald took off to the An- nual ° Meeting of the Con- sumers' Association of Canada,,, Ontario Section, at McMaster, University° in »;-H-amxlton, to become more knowledgeable about consumer problems. Theme ;of the Meeting was "Prescription for Health". Delegates voted on • Resolutions on denturists, segregation of non-smokers in hospitals, gun safety, inspection of amusement rides,' Bell Canada mono -091y on Terminal equipment, advertising of ptescrdptrgn drug prices, prevention of dental disease, etc. We,, attended workshops where health care for the aged, •co-mtnunication skills, and recent nutrition„ surveys were discussed. .• The Goderich C.A.C. Committee agreed to take part in. the C.A.C. (On- tario) School Lunch Surveys. We discussed the project with Miss Connie Nakatsu, Lecturer, :Department of Consumer Studies,- University of Guelph. The deadline is June' 15th. We will have to get cracking! We would appreciate your assistance. The Reading Group met at the home of Kathie Waterhouse on Thursday afternoon last. The -,subject for tl'ie afternoon was "The Pioneers", when Bar- bara' McWhinnie spoke of the difficulties, hardships and determination of the first set- tlers in 'Canada. There was a *good tur- nout, and everyone was very enthusiastic. 4 This week on Wednesday morning from 9:30 - 11:30 at MacKay Hall we plan 'to decorate styrofoam balls to use as decorator hangings. Please bring balls, plastic flowers five large ones and small fill-in flowers, leaves, velvet ribbon, florist's wire, glue, wire clip- pers, scissors, and any other decorating materials you may have, such as . spray or net. We'll be seeing you! Grace 'Sale has finished ' caning her antique chair at the Centre and has made a won- derful job of her first en- deavours. Under the capable guidance of Daphne Malins more chairs are in their final stages of completion. Friday, May 24, there will be no card party at MacKay Hall because the Goderich Little Theatre are using the Hall for their 3 -day production of "Oh Mama, No Papa".' Last week's winners were: May 13th, "500" - . Mrs. Ila Oke, and Bridge - Mrs. Mon- tgomery; May 15th; "500" - John MacDonald; this week's winners, Euchre - Mr. H. Tigert; Bridge - Nfrs. Del Jer- vis. Spring is in the air! The Women's Day Out gang en, joyed Scottish Country Dancing under the direction of Mary Lynne Telford. "Bus" Brown added to the enjoyment of the morning with his informal discussion, 'of "Color Co- ordination". He had a wealth of information on the use of colour in the home 'for Spring decorating. PALMER Wed in Aliso, Craig Ailsa Craig Presbyterian Church was decorated with daffodils, white daisies and .candelabra with white tapers for the April 27 wedding at which Joseph Charles Palmer, Brantford, took Mary Ruth McCallum, Ailsa Craig, for his bride. • Rev. A.J. Simpson conducted the double -ring ceremony. `The bride is, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Stuart McCallum, Ailsa Craig, and the groom is the son of Mrs. Marguerite Palmer, Brantford, and the late Arthur W.C: Palmer. 'For her -wedding, the bride chose a white polyester satin gown fashioned with a high line bodice, long sleeves buttoned at the wrists and a slight train edged with embroidered lace. Her.veil of French illusion was shoulder length - "something borrowed" from. her >sister-in- law, Mrs. Robert McCallum. She ' carried a white Bible,. crested with an orchid and —stephanotis•? Maid of honor was the 'bride's sister, Marilyn McCalfum of Ailsa Craig. two more Bridesma ids 'were w sisters, Margaret McCallum, Toronto, and Catol McCallum, Ailsa Craig. They wore white flowered embossed nylon over yellow, blue and pink respec- atively. They carried crescents of chrysanthemums tinted to match their dresses. 1- Groomsman-_ was` James McLellan, Brantford. Ushers were Ross McLean, Chesley, and Robert McCallum, Ailsa Craig. For the wedding reception, the bride's mother wore a two - 'piece floor -length dress of blue polyester with a white car- nation corsage. The groom's mother chose a floor-lenth .gown in tones of turquoise and bronze with yellow roses on a small purse., For travelling to Niagara Falls, the bride wore a two- piece suit of blue with black ac- cessories and a corsage of white chrysanthemums tinted blue. Tbe couple are living in Guelph. The bride is a graduate of Perth -Huron Regional School of Nursing. The .groorh will be graduating with a Bachelor of Ar -Ts -Degreein "Sociology% fi mi the University of Guelph. " A shower for the. bride `was given by the staff of Goderich Psychtatr' ' Hospital s ital where she �c o was employed.- It was given bey Mrs. Phyllis<Lamb at the home of Mrs. Paula Tafeit. he residents enjoyed a song service on Sunday evening sponsored by the Christian Women's Club of South Huron. The Goderich Township volunteers were at the Home on Monday to assist with the afternoon program. Mrs. .Molly Cox, Mrs. Driver,_ Norman Speir_ and J'er'ry Collins provided the old tyme music for the activities. The residents of,ground floor north and centre were guests on Tuesday evening of the Kinette Club. Twenty-six ladies took advanfage of the outing held in the Clinton Public School with transportation provided by members of the Club and the van. The guests arrived- at 6:30 and after being presented with corsages they were served_a delicious smorgasboard supper in the cafeteria. A musical program and singalong made a very pleasant evening for° the folks and many thanks are 'ex- tended to the Kinettes for a very worthy project. The Auburn Women's In- stitute were hosts on Wed- nesday for the May birthday party and presented gifts to the 24 ' celebrants. Phillips, sing -a -long .by Mrs.' Gordon Taylor. . One of the celebrants, Mrs. Cart- wright, thanked the Institute on behalf of the residents and lunch was served by the ladies. - Art Finlayson " of Seaforth arranged a musical program for "Family. Night" and joined Mrs. Wilma MacLean with guitar and accordian selections. Carl Oesch; of Zurich and daughters Kim and Jane, and Ruth Gingerich• ., provided several vocal and instrumental numbers.
