National„ Farmers Union was
presented to the Ontario Gover-
nment on April 18 in Toronto.
About 150 members,
representing all Locals in On-
tario, crowded into the Otitarip
Room; in the McDonald
Building as Walter Miller,
,Vice -President of the N.F.U.
made the submission td Hon.
Williarn Stewart, Minister of
Agriculture and other
Ministers. •
The Ontario Government
was urged to support a request
made by the N.F.U. to the
Federal Minister of Agricultdre
to convene a conference with t
Ontario Minister of Agricul"t;uree

Ontario Hydro being, a prime
example. -Frequently prime
agricultural farm land is ex-
propriated when poorer laud is
available.
Mr. Miller expressed the con-
cern of the N.F.U. over the un-
cherfked trend of large inter-
national dairy corporations
gaining. monopoly control ' in
the dairy processing industry.
This situation is not good for
farmers Ear consumers. A
National Marketing Agency is
needed for 'dairy products.

National Meat Authority. 'The
N.F.U. expressed " its
unqualified apposition to the
imposition of the present beef
cattle check -off in Ontario. This

the Ontario Beef Improvement
and interested groups, for "the
purpose of arriving at adequate
levels ,of price support and
stabilize livestock, poultry, and
dairy producers against con-
tinued excessive losses.
Also requested was support

Canadian,Wheat Board as the
'Sole marketing agency for all
grain marketed commercially,
and that responsibility of the
Wheat Board be transferred to
the Department of Agriculture.
The Wheat Board is crow under
