Unit will have two young girl's
keeping a close eye on their ac-
' tivities. The two. girls are here
from the University of Windsor
to survey the Unit personnel to,
see how the operation is put
into practice.
Joey -Anne Gibb will
graduate„ this year with a
Bachelor Degree of Science in
Nursing and has 'a iob at the
Clark' Institute of Psychiatry. in
Toronto •1uev-Anne is f om
Amherstburg,, which is Just
south of Windsor. Ail through
high school she wanted to be a
teachar but just prior to her
.graduation she realized nursing
was her, calling.
Kathy Keene will 'graduate
Chis year with a Diploma in
Public Nursing. Kathy is
already a Registered Nurse but
after -working a few years ,she
decided she wanted to • work
'with the public and went back
to school to° get her diploma.
She is from Dorchester, south
of London.
The Public Health Nurse,
rather than working with
physical illness, although she'ir
capable of doing so, is mostly
° concerned with primary and
secondary prevention, Primary
prevention deals with protec-
ting people from the ,physical
and mental diseases that are
all prevalent in our society
.,today, while secondary*prevett-
tion is aimed at preventing a
return or a deterioration of an
illness that has already afflic-
ted someone.
