' in ' the Clinton Sales Barn on May. 12, ,13, and 14-. ; ' The group will be in Clinton as part,of a tour that they will be making in Southwestern On- tario during May, but'no other •. dates were available at press • time, as to when or what other centres they would be playing Director Paul'Thompson said' the group ' was looking for more background information on the effect the 1837 Rebellion in Upper Canada (Ontario) had on the local people:- --He said the group was particularlvw•,in- terested in information about Van Egmond,, Mackenzie or Tiger Dunlop and _what in- volvement the local people'had in the Rebellion. Mr. Thompson reported that the, group has just finished' taping the highly successful "Farm Show" for• the CBC television network 'last week .in . • Toronto. Many local people were down to Toronto'to watch the taping. It will' be aired on the show "Opening night" series, likely next year. Mr. Thompson also reported that the group successfully toured -the "Farm Show" through Manitoba and Saskat- chewan and were warmly received despite the fact that those two provinces experien- ced their worst winter in 20 years. United -The Goderich United Soccer club is a member of the London District Soccer ' Association, (LDSA), ,this year, for the first time. Last year there was only one team from Huron County in the league, that beinj St. Colum' - ban. Any of the Goderich seniors who wanted to play at that level had to. join 'the St. Columban team. This year there are four clubs from Huron County in the LDSA, Goderich United, Clinton, Exeter and St. Columban, The LDSA -consists of 38. teams. from Western Ontario divided into four divisions. First and second division con- „sist of 10 teams and there are two third divisions' with .nine, teams in each one. The minor soccer league in. -Goderich. is continuing. registration and for now has one' Pee -Wee team for players under 14, two Mosquitos teams.- c, eams' a 'for those under 12, two Atom teams for ,those under 10 and one Squirt team for players .un- der eight. - The Goderich Minor Soccer League is affiliated with the 'Ontario ."Minor r" Soccer Association which has enjoyed . 'terrific growth. in 1968 there were 8000 registered players in the OMSL and last year there were 48900. The sarne holds true for the LDSA. A few'years ago there were eight teams playing in the league and now there are 3'8with another division planned for next year to 'accommodate the desire of area far, and players. Last "Sunday the 'Goderich United soccer team had an. exhibition game with Clinton which they won 2-1.
