R. E. McKinley (FC -Huron)
received tittle encouragement
from the department of health
and welfare Tuesday when he
renewed his campaign to create,
an Olympic training camp at
the former forces base at Clin-
ton.
Norman Cafik, parliamen-
tary secretary to the minister of
health and welfare, told him:
"I would like to point out
•tp that the . feasibility of per-
manent sites for the moment is
unlikely because of the dif-
ficulty of assembling athletes in
any one site for any length of'
time and the adaptability of
such sites to facilitate the con-
ditions for any Olympic
progi'a Of some 20 sports."
He added the decision will be
made by offi'ciaYs,orGame Plan
'76 wh,ieh..:consists of the
Canadian Olympic_ Association,
the Olympic Trust, Sport
Canada .and some of the
provinces.
Mr. McKinley said he had
sent letters' to Game Plan '76
associates • pressing his
argument for the use of Clinton
facilities and was not ready to
give up.
The former base has a
20,000 -square foot gymnasium,
