their 60th Wedding Anniver-
sary on Monday Febrtiary, 18,
with a small _gathering of
relatives and "friends.
The reception ° was held at.
Alexandra Marine and General
Hospital where Mrs. Pickett,
who is 78, has been confined-
since last 'fa11.,Mr. Pickett,' who
is 87, . has 'been a patient. at
Clinfon Public Hospital for the
last four "years.
The -couple were married"- in
St. Paul's Anglita•n Chu.r-ch in>
Clinton on February 18, 1914.
She is the former Anna May
Colclough, a daughter of the
late Annie and Joseph*
•,, Colclough. He is the son of the
late Emily and John Pickett.

couple farmed a small acreage:

while Mr. Bender Was -in the

'They then moved to a small

,Goderich, and 'in '1958, they
moved to the. house in
Holjtsvi.11e in which' they

Both' ' enjoy fairly good
health, although Mr. Bender
has ° some rheumatism in his•"
legs. ' Both' are members .of
Holmesville United ,-MChurch
and Mrs. Bender.' is active in
the UCW and the Wonien's In-
- ' 'stitute. '
Mr. Bender said the secret to
a long and. happy"marriage is to

Recreation Committee met in

evening February 14 with, the
President Mt. Wm. Bogie in the

Reid, consultant for Sports
and. Recreation Branch of the
Ministry of. Community and'
Social' Services, spoke ''mainly
,on the subject of grants for
sports and all Community ven-
tures which proved very -in-
. teresting and enlightening.
Several projects are planned
for' 1974 such as the swimming
lessons for the children and
Mr. Clem Steffler in charge .of
this reported favourably to date
and would have more definite
plans and information for the,
next -in-peeing.
Mr. William`Jewell gathered
,interesting information from
this meeting and .reported. he
expected another' worthwhile
summer in softball , when:
coaches, and children get into
the sport again this year.
