This group of over 80 young
people, under the leadership of
Mrs. Barbara Malarczyk,
Sergeant Ken Wayner, land the
musical director Master Cor-
poral' Frank Falkenham will be
leaving Camp Borden around 6
a.m. Sunday so as to have time
to set up their equipment
before the service. Following
the ' Folk Service" the
"Padre's Children", as they are
affectionately known, will be
fed by the Wesley -Willis United
Church Women befott their
long ride back to Camp Borden. -
This special service is open to
the whole community and
should appeal to young and old
alike. 'Everyone is welcome.
The Right Reverend Carman
J. Queen, Bishop of the
Anglican Diocese of Huron, has
appointed six Clergymen to be
Canons.
They are Rev. Karl A. Hart -
sen, Missionary in the East
Parish of the Six Nations
Reserve; Rev. Dr. Geoffrey H.
Parke -Taylor, Dean of
Theology at Huron College;
Rev. H. E. Arthur Peach, Rec-
tor of St., John's (Sandwich),
Windsor; Rev. Jack P. Peck,
Rector of the Church of the
Holy Saviour, Waterloo; Rev.
Garwood G. Russell, Rector of
St. George's, Goderich and
Christ Church, Port Albert;
and Rev. Errol J. Shilliday,
Rector of St. Bartholomew's,
Sarnia.
The Bishop announced the
appointments, which are effec-
tive immediately during his
Charge to the Synod of Huron,
given in St. Paul's Cathedral
recently.
The title of Canon of St.
Paul's Cathedral is granted by
the Bishop, after consultation
with the Suffragan Bishop the
Dean and the Archdeacons, as
a mark of recognition of a
ministry that has been devoted
and effective. Each of the•meii
now honoured, the Bishop said,
has served faithfully, and is
esteerned by his fellow Clergy
and his people.
Canon Russell served in two
parishes in his home City of
Stratford, as well as in Paisley,.
Tilbury and St. Marys. He has
been Rector of Goderich for
nine years. He has been par-
ticularly interested in Religious
Education_ and Social Service.
He trained for the ministry at
Huron College after graduating
from the Uns\ersity of Western
Ontario.
The newly appointed Canons
will be installed in St. Paul's
Cathedral, London, on Thur-
sday, May 31st, during the Or-
dination Service to be- conduc-
ted by Bishop Queen.

Sadie Johnston opened the
meeting.
Mrs. Bruce MacDonald had
devotion and prayer. Mrs. Earl
MacDonald gave a reading.
A chain of prayers for India
and items about all the people
who help -in India were read by
Mrs. Earl MacDonald, Mrs.
Bruce MacDonald and Mrs.
Henry MacKenzie.
Miss Johnston had an in-
teresting story on lack of health
education, lack of proper diets,
hospitals etc. in India. A
question and answer period
followed about industrial and
production increase in India.

Henry MacKenzie.

was answered by 14 members
and one visitor. Offering was
received with Mrs. Earl
MacDonald giving the . of-
fer Tory prayer.
Mrs. Jim West conducted the
business. The 125th Church
Anniversary being held on June
17 was further discussed. Ex-
plorer groups have been busy
making crafts which were
displayed and sold.
An invitation was received
from Kingsbridge C.W.L. to at-
tend their June 12 meeting.

May 12 In Londesboro United Church. The bride Is .the for-
mer VIrglnla Dale Patterson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
William Patterson, RR 3 Soderich. The groom Is the son of
Mr. and Mrs. John Snyder, RR 5 Goderich. -
(Thomas) Edward Bain, well
known in Goderich and Huron
County for his—political ac-
tivities, died last Wednesday at
his residence, 155 Quebec
Street, in Goderich at the age of
56.
Mr. Bain had sought election
to both the Federal and Provin-
cial legislatures several times,
as well as election to the
Municipal Council of Goderich.
He was also active in labor
organizations in Goderich and
before being deposed was
president of the Goderich
Labor Council for a short time.
Born to Thomas Bain and
the former Ann Cartrn,ill on
December 17, 1916 at Sault Ste.
Marie, he lived in that com-
munity before moving to.
Goderich in 1960: He worked as
an assembler at the Dominion
Road Machinery Company
since January of 1964.
He served with the
R.C.N.V..R. during World War
Two and a special Royal
Canadian Legion, Branch 109,
service was held at the funeral
home Friday at 9:0(7 p.m. -
Mr: Bain is survived by his
wife, the former Emma
McPeake, as well as daughters
Emily and Josephine (Mrs.
Rodney Della Vedova) both of
Toronto. He has no grand-
children.
The funeral service was con-
ducted Saturday from the
Stiles Funeral Home with in-
terment in a Veteran's Plot at
Maitland Cemetery.

E.D. Lee.
WILLIAM A. McGUIRE
Father R. Moynahan conduc-
ted the funeral service Satur-
day afternoon for the late
William A. McGuire of
Goderich who died May 23 at •
Victoria Hospital in London.
The son of Andrew McGuire
and the former Mary
4hanahan, Mr. McGuire was
born November 5, 1895 in
Goderich Township where he
lived until moving to Goderich
in 1957. He was a farmer until
his retirement in 1968.
His wife, the former Gladys
M. Jeffrey, predeceased him oh
July 3, 1971.
Mr. McGuire was active in
the St. Peter's Knights of
Columbus and served on St.
Peter's Cemetery Board.
He is survived by one sister
Mrs. Ella Reehill of London.
