know first-hand the sacrifices
doctors must make. I've spent
19 years studiously avoiding
an\ -thing remotely connected
with medicine. I know all about
the public irnage of "those
lousy rich doctors.'"
This past vear my father has
been letting me in on his
world. Suddenly i realized that
when he leaves the house in the
middle of a family crisis; it's
because somebody needs him
worse than we do.
I've decided to study science
because now I know I'll never
be happy unless I give medicine
a try. Yes. I am aware that the
training means eight years and \,:
it's incredibly expensive. I
realize a career in medicine is a
commitment to long hours and
hard work. My- dad's office ex-
