Ability Fund helps
Peebles get job done
In June, 1955, Bob Peebles of
Barrie was involved in a car ac-
cident and left paralized from
the waist down.
Like most paraplegics he was
bitter and discouraged
following his injury. However,
after .meeting other "Paras"
wfio went just about
everywhere„ in,, their ,
wheelchairs, he soon developed
this mobility and- a philosophy
which has led to personal in -
"dependence and the oppor-
tunity to help others. -
As Office Manager for the
Rehabilitation Foundation for
the Disabled (March of Dimes
Ability Fund), Bob Peebles is
in daily contact with the han-
dicapped at the Foundation's
 proyncial",;,_office _,,in Toronto. ,
Over the years,"his quiet under-
- -standing' and guidance have
helped many overcome their
physical disability and the lack
of confidence which invariably
accompanies it.
Although he has had many
personal set backs to cope .with
such as the loss of his wife in
1963, Bob is above all a "sur-
vivor", and realizes that life un-
der almost any circumstances is
precious indeed!
On December 7,-1972 Bob
became engaged to fellow
Foundation staffer Arlene

,Wallaceburg ,.and also han-
dicapped). They plan 'a March
wedding and the happiness
presently ,surrounding them' is
instantly contagious. Arlene
and Bob Gertairly do not agree
on all matters however. they •
both share a "sititgre dedication
towards. improving_ conditions
for their fellow disabled.

MRS. HELEN HILL
...campaign chairman
The Goderich Kinettes --are-
once more in charge of the an-
nual Ability Fund Drive, this
year set for the week of
January 22 to 29.
''Campaign Chairman is Mrs.
Helen Hill. Also involved are
18 captains with from five to 10
canvassers .on each team.
The campaign will continue
for one full -week this year, and
will not be a one-night blitz as
it was in previous years. It has
been found that because of
January's unpredictable
weather, it is sometimes dif-
ficult for canvassers to get out
and complete their routes in
one evening.
So far, persons who have
been asked to work on the
Ability Fund Drive have been
'Very co-operative.

persons to contact are Mrs.
