Not a person was ready-fa— this Christmas The stockings not hung, but throwen in the chair. The kids were in bed, In hopes that Santa Clause soon would be there. When out on the lawn, I heared such a ro.ar, I sprang from my bed and went to the door. ' Then to my wondering eyes did appear, a littleold driver on a,snowmobile, With a bun- dle of toys trialing behind, I knew in a moment it must be St. Nick. As he walked to lie door, he flung his bag on thq, floor. Then he left a few toys for the girls • and. boYs. His eyes how they twinkled, as he ate his lunch. His stomach how huge from all the punch. Then I heard him say as he drove out of sight, happy Christmas to all and to all a ggod' Ken Straughan, 8m Robertson A GREAT LOVE STORY For days' they travelled into the hills of Judea. Joseph had made a saddle for the donkey'g- bacit. Mary rode along beside Joseph and didn't complain of the cold wind. Inspite, of the discomfort, Mary smiled alot in being with Joesph and thinking of the coming child. Joseph stopped the donkey and, wondered if he could make, her more comfortable. Softly he said "M.%ry you are so lovely", as he pressed his cheek against her's.Joseph took a cloth and poured some water out of the bag and gently washed her face, to cool it: ThVy were near the gates of Bethlehem.,and hoped to find a -place.t.2.aky. They could har- dly see"The temple from the gates because of the crowds. Joseph asked at a 'inn for a room. "Sorry we're full. up," said. the inn keeper. " "My wife is about io have a child, you must give us shelter for a few hours at least," said Joseph. After much searching they found a stable. He covered the floor and manger with clean straw and laid Mary to the ground and covered her with his cloak. The whole world seemed to be filled with the singing angels and they knew. God had brought forth His great love into this world. Cathy Rieck, 8M Robertson CHRISTMAS TIME ON CHAOS TIME Having a dog and • a cat Christmas time isn't the best thing in the world. Beleive me. Last Christmas we put up our tree about abut a week before Christmas, •and in that time our cat must have climbed and knocked it over at ,least a dozen times. He would paw qt the or- naments and swat the lights and once he even managed to pull a whole string of garland down. He would climb the tree trying to play with the bulbs, and in the •process lose his balance and fall, bringing the tree with him. The worst incident though was on Christmas Eve when we were all sleeping. Our dog goes crazy over, candy especially chocolates. My mother had wrapped a box of chocolates and set them on the chair beside the tree, hoping he wouldn't reach them there. Well he did. When we got up there were half -eaten chocolates all over, at; well as the box and wrapping paper, shredded and wrecked. I'm sure my mother will never again leave chocolates anywhere near where the dog can reach. Laura Morrison Grade 8 Robertson THINK ABOUT IT If you were to look around in any town, city, or village you could tell that we are getting ready for the 1,972 Christmas.. You would' see many in- dications of it, such as signs in stores, parades,- and even 'Christmas clothing. Imagine looking back over the years at all the different ChristmasesT.there have been. Try to Gompare the first Christ m as . with the one -coming very scion in the futRie. 1 think the answer you might find.could maybe surprise you a Ibit. I feel that with every 'Christmas we have, we get a 'step farther Away from the original meaning of it, -With all the expensive gifts there are for people to buy for other people it's no wonder some people just like receiving. THIS IS WHAT IT MEANS TO ME! What does Christmas. really mean to you? Presents, candy, songs, parades and evergreen trees? Yes, this is what it means to me too. ' 'But there are other things about ChCistmas that are just as important. Now, snow for in- stance, wouldn't it be queer not to have snow to whiten and brighten our Christmas Day? Green Christmases are not very common'in Canada and I am very glad of this! By the tithe Christmas gets here they are no longer green but an ugly brown colour. People are also important at Christmas. They are the givers - and receivers of all gifts. It would .be terrible not to .have gifts at Christmas because there was no people! Speaking of people, a very important person at this time.... of year, is Jesus, for whom Christmas is reall celebrated. , There wouldn't be presents, songs, 'candy or parades at Christmas ,if Jesus hadn't been born! and lost Wisk its to H my customEs and frl•'fickr for their patronage during the past Ysir... • •r :3M • V' REETINGS F TEE SEASON '44-te CHRISTMAS . -Santa:has a tummy of. jells, • And on his sled there are many bells.
