The Deeetnber United
Church Women meeting was
held in the church with a
potluck dinner. After the din-
ner, president Mrs. Beth
Dickson opened the meeting by
welcoming everyone.
Mrs. Louise Brindley in-
troduced the guest Mrs. Gordon
Taylor from Auburn who
showed • slides of Auburn, Ben -
'miller, Goderich Harbour,
Expo in Montreal, Timmins
and Florida.
Silent .Night was then sung
followed with a reading by Mrs.
Louise Brindley and written by
Rev. Mr..McCallum. Mrs. Beth
Dickson then led in prayer.
Minutes and . tteasurer's
report were then read followed
with roll call being answered
by members and two guests.

Mr. and Mrs. Blake Un-
derhill and family ,of Tillson-
burg, visited in the area over
the weekend.
Laketown band
entertains
for GPH folk
The Goderich Laketown
Band played for the patients
and staff of the Goderich
Psychiatric Hospital last Mon-
day evening.
The concert .nhas become an
annual pre -Christmas event at
the hospital, this miarking the
fifth such visit.
Among the selections were
"Pink Panther", "Jesus Christ
Superstar", "Hootenanny", as
well as a medley of familiar
marches, and Christmas songs.
Highlight of the performance
. was' "Selections from Fiddler
on the Roof" which featured,
Wendy McAstocker on
euphonium, and George Grif-
fiths clarinet.
This group of former Tw.oenies became full fledged members
of the Second Goderich Brownies recently. Left to right they
are Susan Fincher, IJoanne Buchanan, Michele Buchanan,
Cindy Bissett, Margaret Conlon and Barbara. Conlon.

Playoffs to determine which
of three local rinks will be en-
tered in the Ladies' Provincial
Competition playdowns (to be
held' at Maitland Jan. 8-9-10)
have been going on this past"
week.
A rink, skipped by Elsie Gar-
dner, was eliminated when they
lost to Phyl Durst. The last
game between rinks skipped by
Doris Paquette and Phyl Durst
will be played on Wednesday
afternoon.
As the first draw ends the
Curling Committee wishes to
thank anyone and everyone
who helped in any way to make
it so successful. Complaints are
few, enthusiasm runs high and
the co-operation has been won-
derful.
Still not. too late to get in on
•
the second draw—all you have
" to do 'is let us know that you
are interested and we will do
the rest. There will be a slight
change in the curling schedule
for the second draw. Ladies'
Thursday evening curling will
be from 7 to 9 and the In-
dustrial Curling League from 9
to 11. ' No excuse now girls for
not filling all four sheets!
The Shareholders' Annual
.Meeting is slated for 'Wed-
nesday, January 31. Plan to be
there. Just a friendly remin-
der—the curling fees are now
due. •

ber 26, Mixed Jitney; December
-28, Ladies' Jitney; December
31, New Year's Eve Dance.

Despite ,heavy snow and
treacherous driving conditions
over the past week, the
Goderich Police Department
report no accid„nts on town
streets of any significanGe.
There were a few minor "PEn-
der Benders" • reported but no
mishaps involving damage of

Motorists are reminded to
continue using extreme care
during the winter months due
to slippery streets, especially
over the Christmas season. The
police also urge drivers to stay
out from behind the wheel if
they intend to drink;
