Last Saturd°ay, Maitland
Country Club hosted the
season's -first bonspiel, spon-
sored by Sheaffer Pen. The
bonspiel committee is to be
commended for its diligent ef-
forts in organizing this tremen-
dously successful day.
Rinks from Kitchener to Sar-
nia'� nd London to Listowel en-
tere in this bonspiel were
piped on the ice at 9 a.m. by
Jack MacKenzie and Peter
Malcolm, of the Clinton Pipe
Band.
Overall winner was a rink
skipped by Earl Fitch of
Belmore and the runner-up
rink was from the London
Highland Curling Club and
skipped by Bill Young..

A local rink skipped by John

wards provided the spectators
with the most exciting, com-
petitive curling of the day. John

each but lost out on the number

High school students are
reminded that their $6.00 fee
entitles them only to high
school curling. In order to curl
on a regular basis with any
other'group the fee for students
is $15.00. Membership fees are
now due and payment, may be
made at the Club, Victoria
Grey and Trust, or at the Bank
of Nova Scotia.

Maitland Country Club.

The Juveniles and Goderich
Building Centre both ,licked up
a victory last week' to remain
tied for the lead in the CHHL
with twelve points.
The Juveniles have .a 6-0
record and Building Centre is
.6-1. DRMCO is keeping close to
the leaders with ten points on
five wins and three •losses.
Bayfield is fourth. with five
points on two wins, five losses
and one tie. Holmesville, who
also picked up a win last week
are next with. a 2-5 record for
four points. Sifto Salt has yet to
pick, up a victory. They have
lost five and tied one.
Paul Ostrander' scored three
times and assisted on one other
and Bill Hoggarth added two
more as Holmesville doubled
up on Sifto -Salt 6-3 last
Tuesday, November 5 in Clin-
ton. Larry Schertzl scored
Holmesville's other goal. .
Ron Whetstone figured in all
Sifto Salt's scoring with two
goals and an assist. Wayne
Draper opened the scoring at
the thirty five,second mark of
the first period from Ron Whet-
stone and Wayne Cooke. Paul
Ostrander tied the game at.3:0R
from Ray Brown. Ron Whet-
stone put Sifto Salt back in,
front at 6:30 from Tim O'Brien.Bill Hoggarth tied .the game
again at 12:29 from Ron Grich.

minors called - 11 to Sifto Salt

ten-minute rh'isconduct.
Building Centre outscored
DRMCO 3-1 in the final period
last Wednesday, November 6 to
defeat DRMCO 4-2
DRMCO held"a 1-0 lead after
one period on a goal by Ken
Lee at 13:37 from Del Bedard.
Buck Million tied the game at'
4:09 of the second from Dennis
Lassaline and goalie Doug Spit-
zig. DRMCO went back out in
front early in the third period
at 18 second mark on a goal
by John Hodge from 'Bob Pap-
ple.
Rick Sovverby tied the game
at 15:56 from Dennis Lassaline
and Bill Duckworth.- Mark
Lassaline scored the winner at
17:09 from Rick Sowerby and
Buck Million. Dennis Lassaline
added an insurance goal into
an empty net from Buck
Million at 19:32.

minor penalties.
The Kentucky Fried
Juveniles kept their unbeaten
string alive with a 3-1 victory
over Bayfield last Sunday.
Allan Sheleton, Ian MacAdarn
'and Dan Duncan scored for the
Juveniles.
Sheleton, opened the scoring
at 6:41 of the first period from
Bruce Bowman. He fired ,a
wrist shot from the top of the
circle which eluded the
Bayfield goalie. Ian IVXacAdam-
scored the eventual winner at
7:25 from Paul Kelly: Dan
Duncan scored from Tim
McAstocker at 10:03. before
Bayfield could get on the
scoreboard.Gord Fisher scored
Bayfield's only goal at 18:49
unassisted. The Juveniles were
assessed seven minors and
Bayfield four.
Four unanswered goals in
the second period helped
DRMCO on their way to an 8-2
victory over Sifto Salt in the
second gatne last Sunday.
Sifto Salt opened the scoring
at 2:05 of the first period when
Ron Whets*one . scored
unassisted. Bob., Papple's goal
at 8:36 from Ken Lee and Dave
Graf. Brian Allin put DRMCO
in front at 12:32 of the 'first

The Huron Minor Soccer
Association, a fledgling group
who hope to form a -county-
wide minor soccer league begin-
ning this spring, are more and
more encouraged as tentative
registrations pour in. To date,
the group have more than,1,000
boys 'on their books and it is
anticipated that the figure may
reach 2,000 before play actually
gets underway. ,

A -great deal of the expected
increase is seen coming from
youngsters in the Separate
School System who have not
yet been provided with forms.
To date, the forms. have gone
out only through the Public
'School system. There is no con-
nection between the H.M.S.A.
and the Board of Education.
The 1,000 boys 'come' from
the communities .of Exeter,
Gorrie, Lakelet, Kippen,
Egmondville, Seaforth,
Brucefieid, Bayfield, Varna,
Wingham, Clinton, Blyth,
Huron Park and Coderich.
Final fee scheduleS for the
league have not been set as the
1(41 group is aWaiting a
(tension by the Ontario Soccer
Association, who meet in
Jarnuary to set provincial mem-
beilli\ip fees. It is felt fees will
ibe aronnd $2.50 to $3.00 per
boy for the season.
The minor soccer league will
involve three divisions,
PeeWees, those under 14 years
of A ge, Atoms, those under 12
and Squirts, those under 10.
